The starter is located at the bottom of the engine i believe on that car its in the front of the engine towards the bottom if you still cant locate it follow the positive battery cableto the end from the battery it end at the starter.

Inspect the Battery terminals and check for a Low battery as the starter requires a lot of Amps, secondly make sure it's in park.

FIRST OF ALL MAKE SURE BATTERY IS FULLY CHARGED.IT SHOULD BE 12.5 VOLTS.CHECK BATTERY CABLES.MAKE SURE THEY ARE TIGHT.AND FREE FROM CORROSION.IF ALL LOOKS GOOD.REMOVE STARTER.CHECK SOLENOID AND STARTER.YOU CAN TAKE STARTER WITH SOLENOID TO ADVANCE AUTO OR AUTOZONE THEY WILL TEST THEM FREE.ALSO TURN OFF RADIO BEFORE DISCONNECTING THE NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE.SO YOU WONT LOSE RADIO CODE.

I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, just put a starter in it a month ago. When i get in lights come on radio comes on everything it just wont start up!

If the starter doesn't spin, I would look at the fuse panel under the hood. Find the "relay" for the starter, usually there will be another relay identical to it. Switch the two relays and see if it will start. If so, buy another relay for it. There also is a possibility the fuse is blown for that relay check for that . I hope this gives you direction for your repairs. Jesus loves you, John 3:16-17 (KJV)

My 2001 Passat won't turn over, but the radio plays. It will start when I jump it off a portable battery. Is this a battery issue or something else?

The radio needs 12 volts to run, possibly as little as 10.5 volts, and at a small amount of amperage. A car starter is much more power hungry, and requires at least 12 volts at about 400 amps or so to start a car...minimum, and thats a small engine. Long story short. Your battery cannot hold a load. It needs replacing.

Do you see a light on the dash that says SECURITY or ANTITHEFT? Disconnecting your battery can trigger your antitheft system.

Here is a link about the security.

The car won't start; lights, ac, radio etc come on but car won't turn over or even click; checked battery cables; put different battery in; still won't start

Check the starter and the starter relay or fuse. A client of mines car was doing the same thing, it ended up being two issues, the starter not working anymore, and a relay that was bad. If I am not mistaken everything should be labeled in the fuse box under the hood and will tell you where the fuse/ relay is for your vehicle

Turn on ignition everything works but want start

sounds like a starter. if possible without getting hurt maimed or mutilated, try tapping on the starter (best done with a rod standing beside the car) while someone holds the key in the start position. if car starts (works about 50% of the time) it's the starter. otherwise, if all lites come on, radio works, etc but nothing when you turn the key, replace the starter

It was running fine two days ago now it wont start everbody saying its the starter butthe radio lights come on so it coulndnt be the batterry please do anbody have any reall suggestion

starter different from battery. radio lights come on so the battery has at least enough power to turn on the radio. Does it have enough power to supply minimum voltage and amps to the starter? A whole different story here.
Jump it. If it starts its the battery. If not, check: 1) 60a starter fuse, start relay, voltage at starter when attempting to start with key( two people required) and finally, run 12v directly to starter from known good battery to determine if starter/solenoid is good

98 saturn sl1 won't start

If the problem occurs after the car has been driven long enough to reach normal operating temperature, the problem is the starter. If the 'no crank' occurs cold, retest the battery.
