It sounds like a automatic choke problem, thermastac all to do with it , when a auto choke comes on and don't go off you normally get smoke from the exhaust and drinks a lot of fuel , but a good cheap tip go to your local kwik fit garage on a Saturday morning and ask a fitter if thay can look at it for you for a drink ie a few £ in cash good luck colin
SOURCE: antifreeze leak only when car cools down
There should be no anti-freeze under the valve covers, just valves, rockers, springs, and oil. If you are getting any antifreeze leaks at the valve cover then you have a cracked head. Since the engine has been pressure tested and has passed, my guess would be that the coolant reservoir is overfilled. Drain it down to the correct level and see if it does it again. If you are getting a strong sweet antifreeze odor when the car is running, you may be in need of a heat core. My PT Cruiser would leak sporadically, and after running a pressure test, it turned out that the 16 pound radiator cap I had on the car was losing pressure at around 8 pounds. so it would only lose antifreeze when it was really hot and/or I was running the AC.

SOURCE: 90 corolla efi problem?
Classic fuel pump failure, Efi fuse runs the fuel pump now its open and it won't start. With it cranking and not starting add a little fuel to the air inlet and if it (flashes off ) ( runs a few seconds ) there's no fuel and the fuel pump is the most common cause. The pump is in the tank and unles s you feel that you as good as any pro mechanic and have the experience then let a pro do the work as the danger is high even for a pro.
SOURCE: is there a thermostat shut off switch . car runs
The amount that it gets hot is a clue but theres no shut off switch. It's possible that the car is over heating and the temp gauge does'nt have enought water over it to report the problem. once the cooling system is cleared as it's full circulating and the fan will come on when it's hot ( disconnect the temp. switch on the therostate cover on the top of the transmission, ( the stat is in the lower hose ) with it disconnected and the key on the fan should be on and connected f till it's real hot. The crank senser or distrubutor module can can too hot and shut down too
