Question about Chrysler Cars & Trucks

1 Answer

On my 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser the airbag light for passenger seat comes on even when seat is occupied. See details below.

This occurs for some passengers even though they weigh 110 or more pounds. The light will go on and signal the problem with a beep. Then it may periodically go off and then back on and beep again. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Most likely the seat sensor. Take vehicle to autozone or similar and have them scan the air bag system for codes

How do u fix a code for passengers side occupancy sensor on a 2002 Chrysler or cruiser

Check the seat cushion sensor wiring first, also contact Chrysler to see if any Technical service bulletins (TSB's) may be out for this issue, you will need that airbag fault code when you call as well as your Vehicle VIN

Air bag sensor keeps going off if someone is sitting in the passanger seat. they can not move or sometimes even if they breath the **** thing goes off.

I would have the sensor in the passenger seat checked but if you have that seat leaning back more than the first of second position, a very unsafe way to sit in a vehicle, then the sensor is ok it is the way the body weight is distributed in the seat. When the passenger is laying back it sets the weight off center and essentially removes any possible safety the Airbag could provide and actually turns the airbag into a weapon during an accident, not to mention the seat belt will not work correctly and will most likely kill instead of save the life since they are going to slip right under it.

2001 PT Cruiser Limited Ed. Airbag light keeps coming on and off and chimes every time it does. Is there any way to turn it off for now, its driving me bonkers?

There may be some reasons of coming the airbag light on your PT Cruiser. Some connectors could be loose under seats or sensor of steering wheel could fail. However it is really rear. Your problem is probably caused by common problem in PT Cruisers - by broken wire on driver's seat.
Before you start doing anything disconnect a car battery. After 15 minutes remove a plastic panel from the seat (the one you can see when you open your door). Than you will see a wire in plastic cover. It connects an airbag in your seat and yellow connector under the seat. The wire breaks near to the second plastic T-shaped part (looking from the top of the seat backrest). It is located where is a pooling line and rising seat connector wire - somewhere in the center of lenght of the seat. Put the seat backrest to the vertical position, push up the black plastic cube of the line to remove it and have some room to repair the wire, cut a cloth tape. You should have ***** white and red wires. Inspect the wire about 1,5 inch from the center of the place where was the center of the T-shaped plastic keeper. The wire outside will be looking as new, but coper lines inside used to be broken. Strech slightly one by one of the 2 wires. When you find the break just cut the plastic cover in that place, remove 0,25 inch of the cover from each of cut end of wire and twist the ends or put extra 2 inch insert of the same wire. Wrap the coper wires in insulating tape neatly and tape all of the wires together with the T-shaped plastic keeper. Put on place the line udjusting a backrest of the seat, the keeper and plastic cover of the seat. Connect a battery and check it.
If you are not sure where is the place whre the wire could be broken, it is exactly 30 centimetres from the connector of the airbag. TomasS

Driver's airbag light on 2007 PT Cruiser convertable

The first code is for "driver seat track position sensor low". The module detects that the sensor input is less than or equal to 0.3 mA. The second code is referring to the first code. I have no idea what the third code is. Basically you have two different communication systems mixed. The 2001 uses the PCI bus system and the 2007 uses the CAN bus which is much faster. The first code is a CAN bus code and the second is a PCI code. As far as the airbag deploying in the event of a collision, I don't believe it will with an active code in the system. I hope this helps.

PT Cruiser passenger airbag light and bell go off without reason

HI I may have found y the airbag light goes off and on on pt cruisers. there is a pair of wires that connect to the seat air bag pod, the wires run down the seat and to a connector in th floor. after long in vestigation i found that even thou the wires have a conduit protecting them the wires run under the foam pad and over a steel bar, which caused 1 wire to be cut inside yet there was no tell tale sign from out side the sleeve, it was only when I disconected the battery and then the connector from the airbag and the floor connector removed it and run a meter on the two I found it. when i "pulled" the leads the outer sleeve stretched exposing the fault, the wire had a very clean break in it which was odd but the fault. note that only one wire powers the air bag, the other is a feed to the PCM, hence they are connected at the ends hence not easy to trace and with saftey in mind you must not put meters on the wires while connected to any part of the airbag
