Most cars either have a button or are activated by the seat belt being plugged in

Normally there is a key that you insert your starting key into and turn it off if not you could take it to the dealer or an electrical shop t have a key put in or put the dogs in a doggie carrying case and put the seat belt on it, this way if you have an accident the dogs will be in the cage safe and sound and if the airbag deploys it will stop them from being hurt. The dogs running around inside the car is not a good thing, I also believe that year it has to register 40 pounds in the seat for the air bag to be armed but you would have to call and ask the dealer. Hope this helps.

Various vehicles have a key switch for arm/disarm the passengerside air bag. The locations vary by manufacturer. Because of the liability and safety factors I suggest you contact your local dealership for that information.

Service air bag indicator light on dash stays on

In most cases this problem is caused by the rotating ribbon circuit contact under the steering wheel having a broken filament, the part is known as a clock spring contact, u will need to properly disarm the airbag and remove the steering wheel to access the part. WARNING: Failure to disarm the airbag system can result in an unexpected Airbag deployment and possible serious personnel injury disconnect the battery 30 minutes prior to start of work.

SRS light remains on after starting (engine) Why?

When the airbag light (SRS) is on or blinks it means a fault has occurred in the system and the airbag diagnostic monitor has disabled the system, the most common problem that turns the light on is a break in the connection to the steering wheel mounted airbag, this is due to a rotating ribbon contact that breaks under the steering wheel that connects the airbag to the wiring harness and the diagnostic monitor, the part is called the clock spring contact, a coiled up ribbon electrical contact that turns with the steering wheel while maintaining a mechanical connection to the airgag mounted on the steering wheel, to replace this part you must disarm the airbag system and remove the steering wheel, this requires a special steering wheel puller tool and that you disarm the airbag system before you start the work, to do this disconnect the battery negative cable for 1 hour prior.

Honda Accord 2001 LX. Srs lamp still lighting, what I have to check ?

Here's a quick check list for most common cost of SRS / Air bag problem.

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger seat belt buckles

Dirty contacts on seat belt connectors (under seats)

Dirty contacts on driver and passenger sides weight sensors (under seat)

Seat covers

Weight on passenger seat

(Example: grocery package trigger SRS / Air Bag light on the way home.)

I recommend you to pass an vacuum over the contacts and use CRC electronic parts cleaner to rule out connectivity2_bing.gif problem.

I DO NOT disconnecting the negative battery connector to clean the code(s)

Without the code(s) the dealer will takes "BILLABLE" time to reproduce the problem.

How can i disable passanger air bag on 1999 z3

It's never a great idea to dis connect any safety feature on a vehicle. But should you wish to do so here are two possible options. BMW may have a key operated switch (usually ignition) to disarm the passanger side airbag (usually in the case of rear facing child seat being fitted) OR if you manually disconnect the airbag (NOT reccommended) you will have to insert a resistance into the passanger bag circuit of equivelant to the air bag that was removed. In order to maintain the self diagnosis check system.

Where is the airbag system fuse in 05 jeep liberty

If you do not have a switch to disarm the passenger airbag it can not be done by pulling the fuse. If you disconnect anything you run the risk of the air bags deploying on their own. The only other way to turn passenger of is to disconnect the bag all together.

Disabling a front passenger airbag in a 97 eclipse spyder?

Hello, The only way to disarm is to disarm both. I will state that this is illigal in most states if not all of them to disarm your airbags. To disarm them just pull out the fuses that are labeled for the airbags. This is the easiest way to disarm, plus not noticeable if it is illigal in your state.
