Question about 1996 Chevrolet Blazer

1996 Blazer w/V-6 Vortec dies at op-temp. will restart. ongoing

Truck runs great till it reaches operating temperature. Then it dies, but will restart while still rolling. From then on it does it continuously until it cools down again. The fuel pump and fuel filter were both changed last year, but this problem is recent.

It doesn't really stall, I think. You can be running down the highway at 60mph, and it will shut of like you turned off the key. Slide it into neutral and it will restart with the key. Then it may go a minute, 5 minutes or do it again immediately. How do I check the fuel pressure?

I have resolved this problem. I changed the Cam Trigger Sensor in the distributor and all is well now. Thanks For the responses guys, you led me in the right direction to find the problem.

I WOULD STILL CHECK THE FUEL PRESSURE.IF ALL IS GOOD.ENGINE GETTING TOO HOT WILL SHUT OFF.ALSO A LEAKING INTAKE GASKET WILL CAUSE STALLING WHEN HOT.

take it to garage to test fuel pressure.if you have not done it before.because.gas will leak every where catching car and you on fire.its a dangerous job.if you got a 4.3 engine fuel pressure should be 9-13 psi for throttle body fuel injection system.for multiport fuel injection system fuel pressure should be 41 - 47 while vechicle is running and 58 -64 with engine off.

Died on rd, replaced fuel pump, crank pos sensor, temp sensor. Still starts gets to operating temp then skips dies. Won't restart till cold then same thing

A bad thermostat leads to poor engine performance as it alters the engine's operating temperature greatly. Moreover, it could also lead to reduced gas mileage. God-Bless! It may be stuck closed, if this happens it will over heat. If the thermostat is stuck here, the radiator coolant would stop working, resulting in the car overheating.

Motor starts then dies several times when cold

Sounds like the cold start solenoid. It is designed to keep the engine running at a set RPM until it reaches a specific engine temp.

1993 S-10 Blazer runs great then dies at temp

If you have Code 15, you need a volt meter or you will run into a wall. You measure the coolant resistor ohms when its cold then measure it when the engine is warm. You also have to measure one side for a 5 volt reference.Or better yet when the vehicle reaches operating temperature and begins to stall take the leads of the coolant temperature and jump it together. This tell the ECM your temperature is 266F. If its stays running and doest stall replace temp sensor

only half way there if you have a tbi check the crank sensor/ cam sensor that is the first line of business on that truck if the crankshaft sensor fails the truck stops dead when you wait a few minutes the sensor re energizes and the truck will work again for a bit antiknock can cause similer problems but not while the truck is running

2000 chevy blazer starting issues

swng,
1) Is the service engine soon light ever on when engine is running?
2) Per your description I would look at the ECT sending unit. It sends coolant temperature information the the Engine Control Module for proper fuel delivery for cold engine start. It may have lost its calibration.
Let me know.

check for loose or cracked vacuum lines, and/or the rotor. It may not be making consistant contact.

Fule pump

I bet you frequently run the truck very low on fuel if so you killed the fuel pump when you replace this pump its a good idea to use only a genuine AC DELCO FACTORY pump because the vortec engine needs a MININUM of 60 PSI fuel pressure to start
