1985 Ford Bronco 2 choke plate not closing

The choke butterfly (choke plate as you call it) can only be partially closed when the engine is cold. It is used to create a low pressure under in the throat of the carby which causes excess fuel into the engine when cranking and early running to help warm up and to prevent the carby icing up. After a few minutes the butterfly will be fully open and remain that way while the engine is at operating temp. As to the engine stopping down the road look for another fault -- Like incorrect fuel cap on tank , blocked fuel filter, dirty air filter If the engine starts easily and runs I doubt that the fault will be in the carby.

95 NISSAN ALTIMA TURNS OVER WONT START AIR FILTER SMOKING

Its probably back-firing in the intake - which means it is firing early or the fuel mixture is very lean.
This engine uses a distributor cap and rotor, so I would start there and make sure the cylinders are firing correctly.
If the ignition checks out ok, it could be a problem with the cam timing.

I just started my truck after 4 months. then it immediatly died and then wouldnt turn over again. the starter is making a loud winding noise but not turning over?

Hello and welcome to FixYa!

Looks like that the starter gear is dirty. Pull it off and clean it. If it doesn't help, replace the starter solenoid for it can be faulty. Regarding the stalling, you may need to fill her up with new fuel. Fuel expires on a long period of time.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

1985 Ford ranger died and will not start....getting gas..have fire to the distrubutor, will turn over but not start.

You have fire to the Distributor, but do you have fire at the plugs? The 4 cylinders had an external timing belt behind a shroud. Look to see if you broke a timing belt. Or you could have a bad stator or module in the Distributor.

Please Help with this Trucks Timing

Leave distributor in. Bring the #1 back up to TDC. Do not tighten the distributor. Start the truck (turn distributor as needed to keep truck running) - put the timing light on the crankshaft until you see the marks again (may have to manually turn with the light on the marks, to bring that back up to sight view). Once you see the marks, lign then up with the light. Adjust the distributor as needed until engine runs smooth. Make sure too that the rotor in the distributor is facing the #1 plug on the cap, and make sure the plug wires are numbered correctly from plug to cap.

Jeep wont start

The crank position sensor is on the bell housing of the transmission, very hard to see, on passenger side, below the valve cover, depending if it is an early 2000 or a later 2000 model.
