There are "CORE" plugs (their real name) at the back of the cylinder heads. I don't think there are any block core plugs between the engine and trans

SOURCE: water leak at back of block

we had the same problem on my 97 rodeo and thought the same thing but it so happens that there is a water tube that runs under the intake and has an o ring that over time gets hot and ends up dry rotting. which causes it to leak you wont be able to tell unless you remove the intake manifold and see. i had water filling up and running over the back of the motor which cause us to thing is was a freeze plug but in return it was a lot less work. though you might start here before you pull your tranny

SOURCE: Where are freeze plugs located on 1996 jeep

Is it coming from the top, Can you see? Did the car freeze or overheat lately? If not, it is not a freeze plug. It is a coolant line running to the rear of the engine, it has an O-ring gasket that has gone, It is real easy to fix, but you have to take the intake off to get to it. Buy the gasket kit, the seals/O-rings are off the shelf sizes, nothing special, and you will need a schematic of the engine so you can see where you are going. Check it out.

I have a 1991 chevy lumina with a 3.1 v6 engine. I am trying to replace my freeze plugs but i can't locate them. Where are they located?

Which ones? There are several. There are 2 or 3 freeze plugs on each side of the engine block. There are 2 freeze plugs on the back of the block between the engine and the transmission and there is one in each cylinder head. Freeze plugs can be very difficult to change properly with the engine still in the car unless you vave the correct tools and equipment to get the job done. They can be very tricky getting them in correctly when you DO have the proper tools.

How to install freeze plug on 1994 bmw

A freeze plug is in the engine block itself; they look like small round caps pressed into the block. Get a Chilton or Haynes repair manual from a parts store.
from mbrown3039: There are only a couple of freeze plugs you can get to without removing suspension components or pulling the engine entirely (btw, any engine overhaul should include replacing the freeze plugs -- they're only a dollar or two each, so take the time to do it if the engine is already out for any reason), but the key is to make sure you get the correct size and then tap it into place using either a plug tool (the preferred method, as it will make sure you have seated the plugs evenly and to the correct depth) or by placing a socket just smaller than the plug inside the lip of the plug and using a socket extension and hammer to tap it into place. Take your time and buy a couple of extra ones in case you damage the first one when installing it -- since you'll lose most of your coolant when you remove the old plug (have a bucket handy!), you'll be without a car until you complete this repair and add more coolant. Good luck!

1994 olds ceirra soft plug removal

I just want to make sure we are talk about the same item.

I hope FREEZE PLUG (silver metal cap) is same a your soft plug.

Please read on if it's the same thing........disregard my post if it's not

To remove freeze plug we drill a small hole onto the plug and use a slide hammer / body work hammer to slip out the cap.

Clean out the inner surface area real good before you put a new on.
