You may have a problem on the valve for the second gear. Ot could be clogged by debris and may need cleaning or may need replacing.

Dodge Ram 3500 skips from 1st to 3rd gear, had rebuild after still the same issue. Any advice?

Governor pressure controls the 1st and 2nd shifts. After that is the 3 and 4 solenoids. you would need to look at the pressure when driving(takes a scanner). pressure is 20 to 30 PSI from 1st to 2nd, depends on acceleration. After that the pressure will jump to 100+ psi. Did you replace the governor solenoid and sensor? They are on the passenger side of the transmission and sit in a block that detaches from the valve body.

On my 99 dodge durango the check engine light comes on and the oil pressor falls and the engine makes knocking noise what do i do to fix the problem

  • First check the oil level and make sure it is full.
  • Sounds like your Oil Sending Sensor is Failing. What happens when it fails is the oil pressure drops and the light goes on. You can test it by pulling the sensor and putting a gauge on it. If you have 6 PSI or better in park and 55+psi in gear then it is good. When the pressure drops so to does the circulation. Drive it to long like that and you risk seizing your engine. Replace that sensor immediately if the pressure is not as it should be.
  • This can also be a weak oil pump.
  • I recommend checking in the order I listed. It is more than likely one of them.
Good luck to you, Regards, Tony

2000 Dodge Durango - P1757 GOV Pressure Not Equal

I have had to replace the governor on those dodge transmissions, and there is a filtering metal mesh screen around the governor inlet port that seems to always get plugged up with small metal shavings. The governor is located under the transmission pan to the rear of the main valve body.

Runs first gear to max rpms before shifting.

You probably have a bad governor pressure sensor and solenoid. The pressure sensor is what normally goes bad ,but from vast experience,i replace both of them together and change fluid and filter.
