Anytime I suspect a starter has gone bad especially after a few unsucessful jumpstarting attempts with good cables, I always take it out and bench test it, If you have any local autoparts stores in your area they usually can test it for you for free! (Saves you serious bucks) If the started test are good, the next thing is to inspect and test your wiring, making sure you have good clean connections. As you check and trace out the wiring you should find the starter relay on a fender well under the hood. This unit has battery cable sized wiring bolted on its terminals and is a simple replacement. Disconeccet the negitive terminal at the battery FIRST. Mark your wires and attach one at a time to the new unit.

SOURCE: how do I replace the starter on my 1993 chevy?

Disconnect the negative cable from the battery..
Under the front end - find the starter near where the trani connects to the motor and the really big gear (flywheel) is..
Undo 2 bolts to remove the starter.. take the wires off and be sure to put the wires on the starter the same way..
Connect the wires to the new starter and put the starter in with the to bolts.. The starter will only go in one way so you cant mess up how it goes in..

Good luck !

1993 Subaru loyale Engine won't start distributor

if rotor (this is the one that turns and not the distributor), then its either your starter is broken or you have a drained battery.

also, for worst cases, your timing belt/chain is broken

My 2008 silverado won't start battery is charged

No, it isn't an ignition issue.

Check power to the starter motor solenoid.
If this is getting power when cranking, then the issue is with the starter motor solenoid or starter motor. Replace.

Starter

I think not just the starter, many factors can cause your truck won't start.

Chevy silverado 1500 305 engine would not start. Replaced starter & starter would not disengage

smaller of the 2 wires is on the wrong terminal,or the starter needs a shim to move it away from the ring gear,if it is too close it won't come out.

My 1993 mercury sable has been sitting an a garage for four years the battery was bad so I replaced.now when I go to start it it Wil clik one time but it won't turn over. Why won't it start?

Sounds like the starter is bad. The one click would be the solenoid on the starter engaging but the starter does not turn. If it does not click the next time you try to start, then that would indicate the solenoid is sticking. Also ensure that the cable to starter is good and the connections are tight. The starter will have 2 wires. 1 heavy wire that runs the starter itself and a lighter wire that runs the solenoid. The second wire seems good. Also ensure there is not an inline fuse in the starter cable. Some cable incorporate the inline fuse in case the wire shorts out to the chassis.
