Locked self out and had to use coat hanger to unlock door last night and then car would not start afterwards

Your message is already old so you surely have gotten into your car by now but for future problems, I'll post this anyhow.
Coat hangers may work but if you can find a friendly cop, they often carry 'slim-jims' which is a thin, flat, flexible piece of steel that slides easily past the gasket and has a hook-like opening on one end to catch the mechanism.

best bet is to TRY to get something to push the electronic lock button on the door panel inside have had to doit with my 01 ram a couple of times

sharpen end of coat hanger, bend with wire cutters first to be a hook of sorts, then clip at an angle to dig into the plastic of the door lock pull by the glass. You will have to shape the hanger a bit, can go in through a the driver's door if you pull hard on the door (and wedge with something to hold it open a little while you work), or through a rear side window if it can be opened a little.
Worked several times for me. A Slim Jim does too.

find a small wedge such as a small peice of tapered wood or plastic. wedge this in between the top of the door and body by using a small rybber mallet or the palm of your hand with a glove but be careful not to bend the door to far and break the glass (wedge it away from the body no more than about 1.5 inches). just enough to get a wire or coat hanger in there to move freely and easily hit the unlock button. Also watch that you dont tear the roofs rubber weatherstripping when sliding the wedge into place. Good Luck!!!

TRY USING A SLIM-JIM, BECAUSE IT WILL DO LESS DAMAGE AND COST LESS THAN A LOCKSMITH. YOU CAN BUY ONE OF THESE AT AN AUTO PARTS STORE FOR ABOUT 15 BUCKS. HOPE THIS HELPS YOU OUT. BEST OF LUCK ON THE BOW-TIE(CHEVY). LET ME KNOW. THANKS FOE USING FIX-YA AND FOR THE HONEST RATING IN ADVANCED.
