www.cargurus.com > Questions > Buick > LeSabre CarGurusJun 11, 2013 - It drives perfect then all of a sudden while im driving it stallsoccasionally. ... it idles ruff an stalls until it warms up does the same in gear its throwing engine ... If you are installing a idle air control valve in a 1990 Buick Centuryyou ... I put in my 3rd MAF sensor in 2 weeks and now the car is no longer stalling.
The regulator is on top of the engine along the gas line. It has a vacuum line on top. Start the truck and pull the vacuum line off the regulator. If fuel comes out of the regulator, it has failed. You can run pretty rich with a busted regulator-especially at idle.
There is no idle adjustment. The idle is computer controlled. It does sound like you have a vacuum leak. The most common problem for this is a bad intake gasket. When it is running ruff spray a little carb spray around the area where the intake bolts to the head. If the engine smooths out you found your problem.
Please be careful when doing this. Carb spray is flammable!
Try having your fuel injector cleaned, you can start with running fuel injector cleaner though your gas tank and if that does not help then you have to get it cleaned out professionally or even worst have the injector's replaced if they are bad.
The other thing that will give it bad fuel would be a bad air intake temperature sensor go bad, as for the ruff idle that is common to a dirty or stuck EGR valve.
Good luck and keep me posted, by the way, what kind of Garage did you take it too? And are there and DTC codes from the ECM?
