SOURCE: 2000 Chevy Venture shows gas gauge as always full..
if the remote works but the switches inside the van doesn't then the most likely fix would be the switch, tthough it is strange that both would quit. the place too start would be pop out the switch with a small screwdriver and disconnect the connector. the top left pin and the top middle pin is the unlock circuit in the switch. check continuity with your multimeter while pressing unlock. if no continuity, then get a small piece of wire and jump those pins in the connector,( the top right and center ) you should hear the doors unlock, then you know for a fact that the switch is bad. the unlock is used more than the lock so it is a more common failure. you can also use a continuity test on the rear wiper switch. though it is more common that the motor would stick from not being used. hope this helps if you have any more questions i am glad to help... dustang
SOURCE: When the gas tank is full the gas gauge shows as
Well that tells me that someone installed the wrong fuel level sensor. Your going to have to drop the tank and pull the pump and float assymbly out. Then go to a parts store and get a sending unit that has the opposite resistance of that sending unit. Just wait until the tank is empty so its a lot lighter. You can call the parts store or go down and see if there is multiple sending units. The sending units work by resistance, when the tank is full the float moves up and turns a wheel in the sending unit, which either removes or increases the resistance causing the gauge to lower. The sending units either give full resistance at full or no resistance at full and then changes as the level goes down until it does the opposite at empty.

The gauge circuit is shunted on most cars, this is wierd, but needed to stabilize the readings... Your description sounds like normal function. Drivers would complain if the qauge were to be instant, going around corners, starting, stopping, all move fuel, and the gauge would indicate this, cauing driver alarm...Been this way for ever, although yours sounds like it is on the far side of the scale...if it reads correctly after a while, you could replace everything and you would have the same performance.

The float inside the tank needs to be replaced. or one of the wires has a small short in it.
SOURCE: FUEL GAUGE SHOWING FULL TANK BUT BUT ONLY HALF TANK OF GAS
Hello. You may have a problem with the fuel sending mechanism in your gas tank or you may have a fungus in your gas tank which is causing it to show much more fuel than you actually have. Drive to an AAMCO repair shop where they will scan your car's computer for free [some auto parts stores now offer this free as well so call around]. If it is mechanical it should show up on the scan, if not you probably have the gas fungus. Some auto parts stores and dealerships now sell an expensive gas tank additive that will kill that fungus. Regards, Joe
