Thank you Thomas, alocal shop has performed a computer check and couldnot pinpoint the fault, he doubted wire connections and requested to do a complete check of all wires which means removing all panels and sideboards. i asked hime to stop there fearing complicating an allready nasty problem. last night i disconnected the battery plugs and the car started ok this morning and ran realtively satisfactory. seems the malfunction is worse when battery is low.

You might want to have your computer checked at a Pep Boys or a local shop with testing equipment or analyzer with codes. But first check all wire connections including battery posts.

Any help from the manual on Traction Control kicking in? What happens when you turn off TC?

Mellissa, it needs to be diagnosed since these vehicles are highly computerized. Take it to a mechanic who has proper equipment to test. It might be a settings problem .

2003 BMW 325xi won't start, dashboard and radio go on.

My 2003 325xi died on the highway a few weeks ago, and I thought it was the battery. It turned out to be the alternator, which was an expensive problem to repair. If your battery is new, it could be the alternator, or a problem with the electrical system. I find the BMWs to be too complicated electrically, which often leads to problems! I'd check your alternator...

Hi,

Thanks for using Fixya!

Sounds like you have an alternator problem. The alternator may have gone bad due to non use. Some parts inside may have rusted out and got damaged. Better bring your car to your local mechanic and have the alternator checked.

Have a wonderful day.

Panic button

the alarm may be in "stolen" mode already. what you can do is that you can switch the key into ON position and open the hood, remove the negative terminal from the battery and reconnect after two minutes. this will give the alarm time to reboot and recognized that you have the key to this vehicle.
