I have a 1995 Sierra 1500 4x4 and as I was driving it started to slip from 2w to N, so I'd stop and put it back but then do the same thing, then I jus started to hear grinding . I don't know w

I don't really know either, but , I have a 4x4 myself, gmc 2500, maybe together we can see what it is. my gmc has a shift lever on the floor to change 2w, 4w, hi, lo range, n. I'm assuming so so you., is there a switch @ transfer case, that is @ fault ? hope that grinding stopped that you mentioned. seems to me the transfer case is where we should look at first. I'll get back to you

1988 silverado will not go into drive

Probably broke your U-Joints on your driveshaft, preventing the rear wheels from turning. Your driveshaft might have disengaged from your differential too. check underneath concentrating on the driveshaft and differential

I have purchased a 1997 5.0 AWD explorer the slector switch has 2W, 4W auto and 4Wlow. Noe indication of what it is in except that the switch is in 2W when I jack it up and have all four wheels off the...

in 4wd low the car will rev its nuts off and go real slow.in 2wd or 4wd auto the front/rear wheels will turn due to the oil flow in the gearboxes.put the car on wet grass in 2wd and see what happens, then try again in 4wd auto, you will NOTICE a difference.(just a little......)another way is to put it in 2wd and put a wood block under all 4 wheels.then lower slowly.......

Automatic transmission will only shift manually

This is a sensor issue. It can be from a couple of different sensors. The VSS, or vehicle speed sensor is the main one. Loose or faulty wiring can cause it, a faulty PCM can cause it, or the Throttle Position Sensor can cause it.

For 4W Hi either be stopped or moving at a slow rate of speed (<20 MPH) and move your 4WD selector to the 4 Wheel Hi position.

For 4W Lo stop and move the selector from 2W Hi to 4W Hi then push down on the selector and move through N into 4W Lo.

1991 Ford F150 Jumps out of 4W drive sometimes in reverse

My 94 did the same thing. In a automatic, you have to come to a full stop, it usually grinds when in 4L ,And for the shifter, I had to look at mine, 2w is all the way forward to the dash, then 4H is toward you 1 click, and "N" is the next toward you, then 4L , you have to push the lever down and pull backwards. Always come to a full stop when changing gears and wait a few seconds before changing direction.

Hi, I have a 1991 Suzuki JLX Vitara with the Front Right hub is locked into 4WD and I can seem to unlock it and the gearbox of late feels notchy, sometimes difficult to change into gear

Try hammering the front right hub with a wood or a rubber hammer while slowly reversing the vehicle, and keep on unlocking the hub while doing this.
spray it with lubrication first
yes, you need to change the gear oil in your gear box
Have your clutch re adjusted, it may be worn out , that's why you are having a hard time changing gears or have it bleed to keep the air out if you are using hydraulic.
If you dont hear any noise in your gear box while driving, its nothing serious, worst thing could be replacing your clutch lining and pressure plate.
