A/c system is undercharged, this rapid cycling of th compressor is a sensor issue and the improper temps at different locations of the system is being detected. Simply adding refrigerant is a very poor practice. It's quick and just as temporary. A properly serviced system eliminates these constant problems and repairs and the needless expense that comes with them.Good Luck and keep in mind that a clutch that cycles like that will not last long.

If you replace any parts, Its recommended to vacuum the systems first, removing all moister and air out of the systems plus its empty out the line and you can fill the system up more with freon. If compressor is working properly than it would be expansion valve unit. Its located within next to the evaporator.

There can be several reasons for this, easiest would be a loose wire at the compressor or a pressure switch.

If it clicks on and off it is likely over or under charged. There are safety pressure switches that will turn the compressor off if the pressure drops under approx 50 psi on the low side or approx 300-400 on the high side, it varies with different vehicles.

If the system was charged properly you are probably looking at a restriction somewhere in the system (accumulator, orifice tube, evaporator, condenser, txv etc.)

Ac not blowing cold clicking noise under hood

pressure switch causing the clicking noise. try disconnecting the pressure switch and jump the two terminals together to see if you get cold air. Replace switch if all works well. Re-charge system if it fails to cool.

Why ac blowing hot air

start off with the cheap possibilities and make your way threw.
I'd start off with replacing Air Charge temperature sensor, make sure your AC Hose isnt leaking anywhere, if those dont solve it then replace ur AC clutch, last chance would be replacing AC compressor. sometimes the compressor will malfunction randomly. or the AC clutch might malfunction aswell. covering these steps somewhere along the line you will have working AC again! good luck

No a/c on my volvo 93 850

Blower motor or engine light won't affect the A/C compressor. Locate the compressor under the hood and with engine running have someone turn the A/C on and off. You should be sble to hear it engage and disengage. If it does not, Ck your fuses, If all is good, I have to recommend anA/C Technician because there are a few other items that could be of issue requiring special equipment. Good Luck- Ned-

Air conditioner isn't blowing cold air

Could be a number of things...electrical connections causing the compressor not to run. Turn on AC and turn your thermostat all the way to cool...now visually check to see if compressor is engaged and not just free wheeling. Most likely you lost your refridgerant due to leak in the system...would need to find leak and repair then have your system re-charged with refridgerant. Best case scenario...your system just needs a charge of refridgerant due to not having enough.

S40 with 80k- ac sucks!

If you have a leak in the system all the freon would leak out. Purchase a can of leak detector put in engine. Directions on how is on the can. If this shows a leak have lead repaired and new freon added. Could be compressor going out. Bought one on Ebay for $100 vs $300 from Auto Zone.
