There is NO way you're gonna get through a smog check without fixing the problem. You can turn off the light, but that'll be an automatic fail. They can tell when you clear a code.

check power at switch if good then check power and ground at trunk release motor. you can jump the wires at the switch to see if the trunk release works.
You need to have the car analyzed to see why the light is on. My light came on on my 2002 Olds and I needed a catalytic converter to pass smog inspection. It could be multiple things so let an expert check it!
Immobilizer system possible the cause if this.. The immobilizer system is death n some vehicle it build inside the radio or meter cluster.. Try check n run diagnosis with dealer's computer
I am assuming its not the service engine soon light it is probably the service vehicle soon light, There are 2 lights service vehicle soon upper left side, and service engine soon upper right side.
When all these come on at the same time it is the wheel bearing sensor. Usually the wheel bearing needs to be replaced which houses the sensor. A sure way to check is to press your sls button by your shifter and see if the light goes out, If it does not, u will need to have a wheel bearing put in.
Buy a code reader from any auto parts store. Service lights usually mean emission/smog problems. For the other light check all the fluid levels. If they are fine then you have a fluid level sensor gone bad
I think you have multiple issues - don't think they are all related.
Have the engine codes scanned and find out what is causing the check engine light to come on first.
It means the car is running too rich. Check the air filter. If it clean you will likely need to rebuild the carb if it hasn't been done. If it has you might just need a carb adjustment.
