Listen! I know you have your hands full, this is one job you NEVER do unless you know what your doing. My advise to you is to not panic.take your time and LIKE a puzzle figure out how to put your dash back. You dont have to put all the screws back but you do have to put the main ones the corners, and the top near the windshield, and the center under the dash.Make sure you have all your wire harness out of the way before you tighten down your screws.Good Luck!

Where is the blower motor on a 1993 mercury cougar xr7 with a 3.8 motor

Typically you will find the blower motor on any vehicle in one of two places. Look on the passenger side fire wall. If it is not there then it is most likely one the inside under the glove box on the passenger side. Be aware that blower motors can be difficult to change depending on their location and what else must be removed to get to them.

Replace heater core

In order to replace the heater core the dash must be removed from the car, in order to pull this off you MUST have access to factory service manuals, trust me on this. You can pay to access the manuals at a reasonable price from this commercial site

We changed the heater core and the thermostat on a 1996 cougar xr7 but we still do not have any hot air---what other part is not functioning or why do we not have any hot air?

Try checking the heater control valve. Follow the heater hose from the engine, and as you get closer to the firewall, you should run into it. It is in line with the hose, and should have a vacuum hose connected to it. Apply vacuum to the valve and it should move. If not, then replace the valve. If there is no vacuum when engine running and heater turned on, then check the hose for leaks or the vacuum source.

Need more detailed Instruction on how to replace heater core

Once again you have an ALL DAY JOB ahead of you. YES, You have to remove the "whole dash".

However, Sometimes you can get LUCKY and only unbolt it without pulling all the wires and cables and junk and it will come back just far enough to be able to remove the heater box.

NOTE: I have found that on SOME Ford models.,:

They install the heater core in the interior plastic housing and mount it on the firewall with the studs protruding thru the firewall then they put on the NUTS from the engine compartment side onto the bolts to hold the assembly onto the firewall.

Then when they mount the engine compartment housing OVER these same studs that protrude thru the firewall and then they install a SECOND NUT to hold the firewall compartment on.

So you have 2 nuts on the same bolt. Therefore you have to take the engine compartment side housing side off FIRST and then you will see the set of NUTS that hold the interior housing onto the firewall,

Temp. gauge not working after having a heater core replaced.

if the engine cooling system was not filled and air bleed out the system may have an air pocket and this keeps the gauge from reading correctly.

Need tech tips to replace heater core for a 97 cougar. I have some mechanical skills and would like to replace it myself than pay someone else to do it. I,ve been told it is a costly repair.

get yourself a manual u will need it to remove the entire dash assembly with frustrating yourself to death, this is a 12-15 hour job for a DIYer, done many, they are a pain.

Heater core

it is located under the dashboard against the firewall of the passenger seat. i recomend buying a repair manual from your local auto parts store before attempting as it requires draining, flushing, refilling and bleeding the cooling system as well as removing many other componets like the entire dashboard and thermostat
