Not to negate your intelligence but have you checked the condition of your drive belts, are they worn, loose, or just plain gone? That,s where I would start. If you have a serpentine type belt, it runs your alternator, your water pump and your power steeering. Is the vehicle a little harder to steer than usual? Check it out and let me know, please!!!

My 2003 ford taurus overheats when driving around town, stop & go, but on highway temperature goes back to normal

I had the same problem with my 99 ford taurus. My ford taurus did exactly did same things that your vehicle is doing. runs cool on the freeway because the air is going through the radiator and cooling the water down.I checked the cooling fans, radiator and hoses for leaks also replaced my thermostat. nothing solved the problem. turns out that the new antifreeze does not come with a lubercant property any longer. you have to buy the lubercant additive separately and then add it to your cooling system when you replace the antifreeze. the lubercant protects your freeze plugs, water pump, radiator, thermastat from rusting out. Meanwhile because of the absents of the lubercant, my water pump impellers rusted out and dissolved. so the water pump had no fins to circulate the water. Luckly for me, I discovered that my car was still under warranty due to an extended warranty I had purchased when I bought the car. ford dealership replaced the water pump. Problem Solved.

Ive replaced the fule pump and fule filter, and replaced the distributer cap and rotor and still wont start and im getting great fule preasure? dont what else to do.

inside the distributor is a pickup coil and if it goes you will get no spark.
best bet is to get a rebuilt distributor it is far easier than taking one apart

My son's 95 ford taurus keeps overheating and he doesn't have any heat, seems to have coolant in the radiator, would it be a thermastat problem?

It is probably low on coolant or is air locked. Make sure the rad is full to the top and there is coolant in the overflow bucket. When you put the rad cap on, do not tighten it all the way. Just turn it on past the first stop. Run the car with the cap loose like that for a couple days and keep checking the coolant level in the rad. Keep the heater turned on as well and the cooling system should fill and force the air out. After a couple of days the rad should stay full and you can tighten the cap to it's proper position. Hope this helps.

Where is the fule pump located and how do I get to on a 1996 ford

Hello baas60: My name is Roger andI will help you. The fuel pump on the 1996 Ford Taurus is located in the fuel tank. THe best way to access the pump is from underneath the car. You will need to drop the fuel tank in order to gain access to the pump. this is best done on a hoist. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer you received. This way I know it was helpful. Thank You for using Fix Ya. Roger

I have a 2000 ford taurus and need to replace my water pump. I need to know how easy of a fix. can I back yard this problem. what are the steps I need to take. All input would be helpful. Thanks

I would first suggest getting a repair manual for your vehicle. I did a 1995 Taurus with a Haynes manual.Very inexpensive about 20 dollars. Save by doing it yourself. Basic hand tools are all you need.

Engine stalls out intermitently

First I would replace the fuel filter if it hasn't been changed recently, might check the fuel pump relay, might be going out. Lastly, it might just be the fuel pump going out. I just had to replace mine on a '96 SHO. Hope this helps
