What should go between the back seat and the trunk of a 72 cougar convertible. Mine has nothing and get a lot of trunk noise

Remove the back seat. Bottom comes out by pushing back on the seat and lifting.

Top comes off with bolts removed.

Small area on the drivers side (employ a child) to crawl through, of fish for them with a wire clothes hanger.

If you have a trunk release button, you can power it from the battrey and it should pop the trunk.

SOUND LIKE PROBLEM IN THE BATTERY.

You have to push down real hard with your knee on the front side of the back seat and at the same time with your hands, push the seat back towards the trunk..You have to do the same thing on the other side.(two wire locks one on drivers side and one on passanger side).

1990 Mercury Cougar Bostonian, mint condition... recently purchased. I hear a whisting/slight high pitch noise that seems to be coming from, in back of the glove box. Any suggestions or ideas?

There is a knob behind each seat that you need to pull out and push the seats down at the same time...

THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF THIS IS THE SEAT SWITCH (WIGGLE THE SWITCH WHILE YOU TRY TO MOVE THE EAT), IF THAT DOESN'T FIX IT U WILL NEED TO REPLACE THE POWER SEAT TRANSMISSION, A VERY EXPENSIVE PART, SO TRY THE SWITCH 1ST.

Hi, I don`t know the car but sometimes when you can`t open a boot lid someone need to push the boot lid down ( this relase the pressure of the latch system)and the same time someone pull the handle. Hope that helps.

I ran into this issue with mine. To get access to the back fuse box, obviously the top cannot be in the trunk. You will have to take it to a mechanic who I believe can override the fuse and get the top out of truck gaining access to the fuse box.
I ran into the same situation where my whole convertible system was actually shut down, nothing worked. I took it in and got it fixed, but that is about the only solution, sorry.

try checking your fuses and relays.
