Question about Dodge Cars & Trucks

3 Answers

98 Dodge Caravan keeps blowing the wiper fuse. Works for a few seconds then blows.

Had same issue a few months back. Took to a mechanic first time. He replaced the fuse and the wipers worked fine for a a few months. Now it keeps blowing. Requires 30A fuse. Tried a 40A and it still blew. HELP!

Check for bare wires grounding out , wiper motor failure or wiper shafts seizing up and overloading the motor
using a bigger fuse will only result in the wiring harness burning out and possible fire in the car

Sure enough! It was NOT a bad motor or seized wipers.! I traced the wiper motor wiring under the hood and had 2 open frayed wires grounding out the motor. I duct taped them nicely, put in a new fuse and they are fixed! No more blowing the fuse. Thanks for the advice and help Bill. Awesome!

Before changing out the motor, I followed the wiring from the wiper motor to under the hood. Sure enough, I had 2 frayed wires grounding on my shock. I duct taped them nicely, put in a new fuse and FIXED! Patience in finding the open wires is critical. I got lucky and it was obvious right in my face. Quick, cheap fix.

It was not a bad motor. I didn't think so because it was working just fine. I traced the wiring from the motor to under the hood. 2 wires were open and frayed sitting on my shock causing a short. I duct taped them nicely, changed the fuse and they are FIXED! Very quick, easy and cheap fix. Thanks for the help anyway. The motor was $70. If this comes up again, suggest patience and follow the wires first. Thanks again buddy. Bill

You have a wiring problem. .it's creating a draw on the battery. .you pull each fuse till draw goes away and your short is in that circuit. .

Windshield wipers will not work

you have a short, thats what killed them in the first place and sound like the very thing keeping them from working, this is the first thing i would assume is the issue, too much power, short circuit, wrong fuse try this stuff and let me know if it works and if not i have a bunch more solutions to try, process of elimination

Hello located in your fuse box witch is usually in the glove compartment or drivers knee area if you can not find it owners manual will tell you that location. Fuse marked and wipers and blower this is the fuse that you will want to inspect and replace if blown keep in mind you want to replace with the same amp. Most times if wipers a frozen and you turn them on this usually happens your fuze blows.John

Air bag light is on 96 grand caravan

i may be mistaken on if this applies to your model year but if the rear wiper does not work then check the fuse for rear wiper and replace if blown. make sure rear wiper switch is off and wiper is parked.if air bag light goes out after a few seconds then the rear wiper motor is bad causing fuse to blow. air bag module gets power for its fuse through wiper fuse.if wiper is not parked then fuse may blow when you turn yhe key on.you have two choices. replace wiper motor or remove tailgate door panel and unplug the motor

# 15 fuse keeps blowing, no windows, no wipers, shift locked...What could be the proplem...noticed that cruise control went out a few months back

possibly the cruise cancel switch on the brake master cylinder is shorted, disconnect the switch and replace the fuse and see if everything comes back to life. the switch may be on the end of the master cylinder, Ford has had BIG problems and RECALLS for this switch going bad.

it happens every time you run the rear wipers, it blows out the fuse, and thus the red air bag light goes on. they are on the same circuit. try not to use the rear wiper. to fix it, just temporarily use a 15 or twenty amp fuse in place of the blown out one (refer to the manual for fuse box and amps), this will set the wiper to sit back in its normal position. After this has been done, go ahead and replace the fuse with the correct amps, and the air bag red light will sets off.
Note:( reason to use higher amps is to allow the wiper to sit back in its own place, otherwise, if using the same lower amps it will keep blowing it out.) ofcourse disconnect battery first. Good luck
