there are too levels for refrigerant that affect the ac compressor . one is too low which you see and the other is too much. both control pressure switches tat work the ac clutch. IT is best to have a refrigerator /air conditioner mechanic add the gas as they will check out the system for leaks which you have

Ac was running when driving to the store, stopped to gas car then on the way out turned on ac no air coming out and the ac light does not turn on. i checked the fuses all are working but no power running...

Most likely the AC compressor clutch isn't engaged. This happens when the refrigerant pressure switch doesn't detect pressure in the coolant lines. The cause is usually a refrigerant leak.

This way the AC compressor is protected from running dry and possible damage.

Let your local repairshop check AC line pressure - if no pressure, look for the leak first then refill with fresh refrigerant.

A.c in my 1999 alero is blowing hot air i think it need to be recharged?

FIRST CHECK USING AC GAUGE SET TO SEE IF YOU STILL HAVE REFRIGERANT IN THE SYSTEM. BECAUSE YOUR AC COMPRESSOR FUSE OR RELAY IS BAD ALSO AC HEATER CONTROL SWITCH FAULTY.YOU DONT WANT TO ADD TOO MUCH REFRIGERANT IN THE SYSTEM. WHEN YOU CHECK AC REFRIGERANT THE LOW SIDE PRESSURE SHOULD BE 32 - 40 AND HIGH SIDE PRESSURE SHOULD BE 150 - 228 PSI. WORK SAFELY WEAR SAFETY GOGGLE WHEN WORKING ON ANY KIND AC REFRIGERANT SYSTEM. REFRIGERANT CAN CAUSE BLINDNESS IF GET IN EYES. DONT INHALE R 134A REFRIGERANT CAN CAUSE UNCONSIOUS AND DEATH WORK IN WELL AIR VENTILLATION AREA.

Ac not working in my 2004 explorer v6 engine manual ac please help

I would check the amount of refrigerant in it. there should be a cap on one of the ac lines to check the refrigerant you will need a gauge though.

My 2002 Expedition air conditioner will sometimes blow hot air and others cold air

I would check the following possibilities:
1. Is compressor clutch working? - You need to do this when the ac is blowing hot air only - locate compressor drive pulley on engine - rubber belt wraps around it. Start engine and set to max ac. When the ac is blowing hot air, look at the center of the compressor drive pulley using a good flash light - watch it for a while, it should be spinning with the pulley - this means the compressor is engaged. If not, the compressor is not engaged. If your ac is blowing hot air, then the compressor should be engaged and running (trying to cool). If it is not engaged, then your compressor clutch is probably going out. Could be low voltage to clutch, but more likely the clutch is worn out and only working some of the time. Note: if working normally, the compressor clutch will engage and disengage in cycles- but the air should always be cold. If clutch is bad, compressor would need to be replaced (sold as one unit). This is tricky to diagnose and could take some time - you need to do it when ac is blowing hot air but set to max cooling.

2. Low on refrigerant or refrigerant has moisture in it? If your ac blows cold initially after being off for a while, then heats up, and continues to regularly cycle back and forth between hot and cool air, then the system may be low on refrigerant or the refrigerant may have moisture in it that is freezing and restricting refrigerant flow. An a/c shop can check refrigerant level and even replace refrigerant if moisture is suspected.

Could be other issues, but I would start with these.

Good luck

A/c unit blows hot air all the time

Most likely problem is lack of refrigerant in the AC system. AC compressors need a minimum amount of refrigerant to function. If your system has a small leak, you may have insufficient refrigerant. Have your system recharged (most garages will do it for under $100) to get your AC working again. Best of luck.

97 aurora AC not working

GM products have a safety feature which shuts down compressors is they run too low on refrigerant. Honestly surprised you were able to fill the system with refrigerant since the compressor would have shut off. The best way to reset the compressor is to disconnect the negative battery cable for 15 min. After reconnecting, the compressor should function again assuming there's enough R-134A in it. If there's not, turn the AC to MAX and add the refrigerant. At this point, the system should actually **** the can dry. Hope this helps with your AC problem. All the best!
