SOURCE: 1998 buick park avenue drivers side blows cold, passenger side hot

sounds like the drivers temp door actuator is not working should be located on the drivers side of the air box down by the gas pedal or center dash area.

Did you check your coolant level or was it low and you added to it at some point? If so the system my need to be bleed or worst case the thermostat is going bad.

Blend door for passenger side or blend door motor has failed. Very big job to remove dash and work on it. Except the door motor is accessable from the glove box.

Its more then likely the temp door broken or temp door motor broken/stuck. There is 2-3 of these motors under the dash on the side of the evap/heater core box. Some require extensive labor to replace, good luck

I would say, yes, you may not be satisfied with these symptoms long-term. Plus, with the ABS light on, you will have no Anti-Lock Braking function in a skid -- this is not good.

I would make a wild guess that fixing all three of these problems could be in the range of five hundred to a thousand bucks.

Could be that the hvac control module has an intermittent problem or the air mix door control for the passenger side is sticking. Check for error codes (DTCs) using a code scanner, but may not show an intermittent mechanical issue. If you can get at the air mix control on the hvac box under the dash on the passenger side, you may be able to check its operation.
