Latch is jammed. Lean seat back forward and inspect seat latch (lower back of seat) where you normally adjust seat position. Possibly something stuck in between the latch. If nothing there, try poking a small screw driver in and free latch.

Take the bolt out from the seat on the other side and go to the hardware store with it. There you can match it up and replace them both and it's all fixed!

Rear seat latch wont catch afraid to put kids in seat in case of accident

Is it not locking on both the front and right side? Or is there a problem only with one side? In all probability the issue could be with your locking mechanism on your seat, have it checked and replaced.

Seat switch seat went down will not come back up

You will need to do some testing with a test light, this problem could be a bad motor or bad connection and last a bad seat switch control, try to push button for the forward position while pushing in on switch button and maybe trying to wiggle a little.
I do not know what year, make or model this car is but try that first.

On my extended cab, the front passenger seat will not slide all the way back to the lock position

There's probably something in the way. Get under and behind the seat with a flashlight and check the back end of the rails to see if something is there.

I have a 99 Silverado and the passenger side seat back will not lock back into the upright position. Locks fine into reclining positions. What could be the problem?

i had this problem on my 96 chevy, basically theres a set of ratcheting gears that lock the seat in place in the various positions. sometimes over time or due to abuse one side or the other gets stripped out and the seat will no longer lock into place. i found a ripped up seat on Craigslist that was in a part out truck and bought it cheap then took both seats in the an upholstery shop, between the junked out seat (15 bucks) and the labor at the shop (50bucks) it cost me 65 bucks to fix, hope this helps

I just encountered this problem with my 2000 Ford Excursion. After fighting with it for several hours I realized that the section of the seat that is facing up towards the roof of the vehicle was applying pressure to the back of the seat that was facing down and preventing the back of the seat from coming up when I pulled the lever. So, the next time I pushed the seat up that is facing the roof while I pulled the lever and this resovled my problem.

Driver side seat back is loose

Sounds like your latch is broken. You can replace the latch, it is spring loaded .Once you remove the trim around the latch and pull the seat cover up you can gain access to the bolts. You will need a torx bit ,I believe a t40 not sure. 13mm and 15mm socket.

1997 Dodge Ram Console

Thats a whole different ballpark. The center seat consoles do not lock upright at all there is no locking device, you just lift it up and it has a small bump that the lever hops over and this keeps it from falling back down. The only thing I can think of is something could be wedged in the lever or the rotating level itself is broken and holding the seat up. You may be able to see what is holding it if you move the drivers seat as far forward as possible and watch carefully on one side while wiggling the console back and forth and then do the same on the other side. If could be the lever bent and you may be able to bent it back into plce where it should be.

Let me know what you find, in the mean time I will check the Chrysler Star Hotline to see if there was a simular problem.
