It is not an interference motor. You shouldn't have damaged anything. I have done lots of these timing belts, what seems to be the problem with you car? Does it run rough or surge?

SOURCE: replaced timing belt need do you start at TDC to

For all timing belts you should start with the crank sprocket pointing at TDC and the cam sprockets pointing at their designated marks.

You should be able to mark the old belt and and put corresponding marks on the cam and crank pulleys, then remove the old belt and transfer the marks to the new belt and install it.

Personally I would buy a manual as this would provide you with a step by step guide to performing the repair.

I am not positive that this is an interference engine, it looks like it is to me. If you are not accurate in your timing you will cause severe engine damage.

If you plan on doing more than light tuneup work, I highly recommend purchasing a manual for your car. We have for each of three vehicles a Haynes manual and it contains all the details on maintenance possible for the shade-tree mechanic. All are based on a complete rebuild.

Even if not doing a particular job, one can somewhat estimate what it will cost to have done.

Ok, what degree before tdc is the spill timing on No one piston?

if you are talking inline fuel pump for a diesel engine ( only unit that allows for spill timing) you set the injection mark on the pointer and spill shut off is at that mark
with diesels there are a number of differences as to the different makes of engines as some are 15 degrees up to 22 degrees but they are all set on the INJ mark
talk with a specialist diesel shop as to the degrees for your make of engine as it is critical to prevent engine damage

What is the valve adjustment order when setting valve lash on Isuzu 4jg2 engine

The tappet adjustment is 16thou or .4mm for both inlet and exhaust.
Remove the rocker cover.
Turn the engine over till the timing mark on the pulley lines up on the pin in the cover.
Try to move the rockers on no1...if they are loose and four are tight you are on TDC no1 other wise you are on TDC 4
If on TDC one,

From here you can adjust inlet exhaust on one, inlet two, exhaust three.

Turn the engine 360 degrees one will be tight and 4 will be loose...so now you can adjust both inlet and exhaust on 4, inlet on three and exhaust on two.

Does anyone have a diagram for the timing marks on a case g188d diesel engine that I could see

if you know where the timing marks are supposed to be the use the old method of cam/crank timing to check and adjust to where the marks will be. Remove no 1 injector and turn the engine over until no 1 piston is coming up on injection stop when you reach TDC. mark on flywheel of harmonic balancer. If there is valve clearance ot both rockers turn the engine another 180 degrees and bring the piston to TDC again. watch the rockers and if you turn back a few degrees or turn forward a few degrees you will see ( in the forward direction) the exhaust valve closing and at the same time the inlet valve will be opening. This is known as valve rock. As you move the piston bacvk and forward over TDC you will see the valve movement. set on TDC and check the timing marks with the positions indicated. Remove and reposition the cam shaft gear to achieve the correct mark alignment or pull the cam shaft out just enough to realign the teeth to the mark. At the most you will be about 1 tooth out. The pump timing will be out 180 degrees as you are setting the valve timing on the induction stroke and you will need to turn the engine 180 degrees to compression stroke for the pump timing marks to line up. the injection mark on the flywheel is what you are looking for and when it is at the correct number of degrees as indicated by injection / lightning flash sign then the marks for the pump should be just about lined up

How do I set the timing on a 1950 dodge flathead 6

Since I'm not sure how much info you have, here's what I have in my Chilton manual. The firing order is 1-5-3-6-2-4. Your timing marks should be on the damper and your timing is the 3rd line AFTER the "O" mark. Your point are set at .020 and the plugs at .035. If you are able to set dwell it should be 35-38.

To set the inital timing remove the valve cover first. As you turn the engine over by hand watch the operation of the valves. As the timing marks come up on the O the intake valve should be closing. At the O you are on Top Dead Center (TDC). If you go past TDC the exhaust valve should start to open. If this is what you see, then you can line up your distributor with the #1 spark plug and wire your cap from there. It this is NOT what you see then turn the engine over 1 complete turn back to TDC and you should see it happen this time. The crank turns twice to every 1 turn of the camshaft. Now insert your distributor and go from here. Snug the distributor and fire up the engine, use a timing light and set to the third mark ahead, that would be the direction the pulley is turning. Hope this helps.

Is your generator wired in to an automatic switchover in the motorhome, or do you have external plug in on face of generator, or near it. The power from the generator needs to be attached one way or another to the motorhome. It may be as simple as plugging the cord from motorhome into it, depending on what set-up you have.

The wide mark is TDC (Top Dead Center), each mark after the wide mark represents 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 degrees before TDC. Set timing 3 degrees BTDC (Before Top Dead Center). In addition, valve timingis set like this: Intake opens: 12 degrees BTDC
