My 1991 block knocks whats the problem?

check the inside of the engine oil cap to see if a creamy pudding like substance is stuck inside of it. If so the head gasket is lealing and ruined the cranks main bearings causing the knocking noise

The part where you say that sometimes the car acts like it dont want to crank has me thinking your problem might be with the battery terminals. Check and make sure they are clean and tight. This would be where i would start diagnosing this problem from what you described.

Could be time for a tune-up, spark plugs, ignition cables, fuel and air filters, possible cap and rotor, or coil packs.

the heater core blew and yes you need a heater core and some hoses are plugged
