Absa's insurance have refused my claim on a sinking kitchen floor caused by a leaking municipal pipe as they do not pay out "over time" damage. How do I contest this?

If you think you have a valid insurance claim that was not attended to promptly and have been unfairly dealt with, you can always contact the state insurance department and file a written complaint for their investigation /resolution.

My sister ran me off the road this morning on the way to work and her insurance said they won't pay for my vehicle because we live at same address

To an insurer it might look like a scam but it is unlikely they have the right to say they won't pay. You both need to read the small print of your insurance policies; your sister to discover if there is a specific clause allowing the insurer to duck out of a claim at the same address and yourself to discover if your insurance includes any legal protection where your insurer would sue your sister and/or her insurer.

If the damage isn't great or expensive it might be better for your sister to pay you directly if she has any no-claims discount to lose.

Before you become too distracted it is wise to place a description and all the details of the incident on paper and include plan drawings and photographs of the damage and the scene.

If her insurer doesn't have a specific clause then I suggest you proceed with a claim regardless. Make the claim in writing and have it delivered into the hands of the Claims Manager at the company office.

If there is a clause allowing them to refuse to pay it will give you no choice except to forget it or to sue your sister...

I am on disablement and am not 65 yet so the only insurance foe me is a spend down and it cost $401.00 a month I only get $495.00 So how can I pay for this and live

What kind of insurance? Is that car insurance? That is awful high for a liability policy. I am 72 and my car insurance (liability only, as required by law) is under $30 per month. If you have to spend that much, can't be done on $495/month.

We had rats in our volvo engine. during christmas and they chewed on a few of the wires in wire loom. the wires are not broken only the covering was eaten. Now the our Volvo garage say they need to replace...

All depends on the extent of the damage and the skill of the shop guys: the wires can't be independently replaced but they can be spliced up back together and everything insulated again. But they would need to make absolutely sure that every single damaged wire (no matter how small the damage) has been reconnected or they could fry a lot more and pay that from their pocket.
It's easier for them to just replace the whole thing.
