I strongly suggest referring to a Chilton or Haynes manual for this procedure. Jack stand placement is critical and several safety hazards exist. Specialized tools are also required. Damage to other components can occur if not done correctly.

I replaced my cv half shaft axles in my 97 ford aerostar yesterday and drove it about 30 miles to where i live. Today when i tried to drive it i backed down my driveway and stopped to check my mail. Then...

I hope you made sure you had adequate fluid in the transaxle before trying to drive it! Did you SEAT the axles into the inner hubs (past a spring clip ring), or did you just slide them in until they stopped moving? Did you TORQUE the outer nuts to spec? There IS a possibility, that if you REMOVE the outer nuts and STRIKE the end of each shaft with a hammer, you MIGHT be able to seat the axles correctly ... assuming you did not do that before reassembling all the outer stuff.

I need to know if special tools are needed to replace the drivers side CV joint on my 2000 Ford Windstar.

I would buy a rebuilt axle half shaft from your parts store and replace. It is cheaper than CV, boot. grease, and seal And, you have new CV's on each end of axle half shaft, not 1.

How do I take apart a CV shaft on a 2007 ford f-150 in order to replace the boot?

I would change the whole half shaft,, reason being ,, without the boot being on or being broken all kinda dirt has gotten into your cv joint and it will fail soon,, save yourselft time and later trouble and replace it now

Your CV half-shafts and, possibly, your wheel hubs, are worn out. Replace your CV shafts. If it continues, replace your wheel bearing hub assemblies.

Half shaft replacement....

There's no need to replace the entire shaft, inspect th CV joint, make sure it's still well greased and replace the torn boot, they make a quick replace boot, they are easy to install and alot cheaper.
