Also check the aircleaner duct work where it connects to the throttle body. They can tear open over time from age.

Have a look under the hood, and inspect the vacuum lines, possible one got disconnected causing your issues.

When you turn the ignition on do you hear a buzzing sound behind you? if you don't hear that sound then it might be the fuel pump not priming meaning its bad. Have someone beat on the gas tank while you start it, if it starts its your pump. If that doesn't work it can be any number of things, check your fuses under the hood and kick panel fuses also to see if any blew.

check all the vacuum lines, and the PCV valve, get a can of carb cleaner, and while the motor is running, spray short bursts of the carb cleaner all around where vacuum lines are located, if the motor rev's up thats where your leak is going to be

My car want start it died going though it was out of gas put gas in want start

It sounds like maybe you fuel pump died. Dig out the BIG BUCKS and give it a decent burial!
It is mounted INSIDE the fuel tank and costs several hundred dollars just for the part.

I have a 1985 dodge and it acts like it wants to shut itself down while im driving. It bucks really hard. So i was wondering if its just the fuel pump going bad since it whines rather loudly or is it some...

The fuel pump is in the gas tank
You won't hear it when driving

The whinning is the Alternator
Now you know you have an alt problem because the lights flicker,
die down etc.

Wiring issues,maybe.
Remove and clean ALL Ground wires you can
find under the hood

Also check the fusable links, unless you have large fuses
that serve that purpose.

Sounds like the regulator in the alt and you loose current
necessary for the ignition to function correctly

My o2 status will start warm up then will not idle, it dies. if you give it gas it runs is there a idling sensor? this happened after the weather got cold if thats any clue

have you had water undere the hood? splashing thru rain? it sounds like a bad throttle position sensor, possably some water in it. now that it is cold, it freezes up and makes reading the throttle difficult
