Jack the vehicle up at proper jack points and lower onto jack stand or stands.remove drivers side wheel. Use needle node pliers and a screwdriver to remove the cotter pin in the axel nut and determine the size of the axel nut. It will most likely be metric 28mm to 36mm. Use an impact to remove the axel nut. Now you will need to remove one or both of the ball joints. Start with the bottom one first and hold the axel in place and pull out on the hub. After you have the hub off of the axel note the splines and how the line up. Now turn the hub so that it is out of the way. You may be able to just yank the axel out of the transmission. If it didn't come out easily you will need a crow bar to gently pry the axel out of the case. Be careful not to put too much pressure on the transmission case. It's aluminum and it will crack and break if you beat on it. Just pry gently and with the transmission in neutral ( be sure to chalk the rear wheels so the car won't run you over) slowly rotate the axel and pry until it comes out. If that doesn't work you will need to rent a slide hammer. Thread it to the free end of the axel and forcefully slide the weight out to knock the axel about of the trans. Installation is reverse. DO NOT USE A HAMMER to force the axel back in you will mushroom the threads and never get the nut on.

How do you get the Left Front half axel out of the front drive assembley. I pull it but it wont come out.


I hope you have drained the trans oil out first or you wil have a big red flood!!!!

You need a pinch bar to flick it out, be carefull not to damage the oil seals in behind the joints.

I want to remove front axel driver side please


Basically, you loosen the axle-nut (could be pretty tough, so spray some lubricant on it) and the wheel nuts. Jack up the car and support it on jack-stands.
Reomve the brake calipers and tie it up to frame. Remove the two bolts holding the struts bracket and steering-knuckle. Push down/sideways to separate both strut-bracket and steering-knuckle. Use large screw-driver or pry bar to pry off axle from side of transmission. Block-off transmission fuild with a nylon rag or similar; take out axle-shaft. Installation is reverse of removal.

The weather seal is shot. Replace the entire assembley but don't forget to reconnect the turn signal bulb BEFORE you reinstall the assembley into the car body!

LEAKING FRONT AXIL SEAL


take the wheel off , unbolt caliper and sling it out of the way with a bungi cord, take off the rotor, then you have too take the pumpkin cover off the axel diff in the front (drain fluid first) easy way to do that take out bottom and side bolts out then leave top 1 or 2 in but finger loose. pry cover off with a sturdy scrapper from side allowing fluid to leak out from bottom of cover. when fluid is done comeing out then take off cover. to take the axel out to replace the seal you have to push the axel inwards to remove the C- CLIP on the end of the axel shaft that slides into the inside of the pinion gear (use a extending magnet) keeps gear oil on your hands and from dropping it into the pumpkin housing. then all you have to do is slide the axel shaft out. then replace the seal .
