2003 VW GOLF REAR door wont open

The rear door lock actuator has failed in the door locking unit this is a common problem you can manually unlock the door to replace the latch if you didn't have the deadlocking on if you cant try pressing the locking button twice so when the car is locked the flashing red light is not blinking ie off on the drivers. Doing this usually causes the faulty lock to release the dead locking so you can pull the inside handle to unlock the door.

the lock is held in the door by a large "c" shaped flat spring plate . If you have the lock bit in your hand it will be that clip and you will need to remove the door trim to get inside to replace it in the small groove just under the edge of the lock

Golf gti left rear door locking system

it is probably your door lock has gone into safe need a new door lock.try using the lock/unlock button on your remote or on the drivers door button and gently tap the door handle with your hand while pressing the lock/unlock button, carefull not to dent your car.if that does not work, try disconnecting the cars battery for a few minutes, but note the vehicle might pick up fault codes which need a diagnostic machine to clear...good luck

Drivers side door lock barrel fell out???

This is a common fault on A4 VAG cars (Mk 4 Golfs, Skoda Octavias, Seat Leon, Beetle, Audi TT , Audi A3) you will need to remove the door card from the inside. Repair kits are available so it may be possible to repair the lock barrel but for the effort htat is required to remove the door card I would replace the lock barrel rather than repair it.

How do I remove and replace the door handle on a '01/51 VW Golf ?

you need to remove the blank where the lock barrell would be fitted if it was drivers do this remove the black plastic bung that is located on the edge of the door ,then pull the handle as if you were opening the door and hold it in that position, then insert a 20 torx screwdriver in the exposed hole from pulling the bung out and unscrew untill you start to feel resistance ,the screw will not come out you are just slackening it.then you will be able to release handle and pull out blank or barrell if you have one fitted.then flick the cable out the handle ,you can then pull handle towards the back edge of the door and un hook it from door.holding the handle while you are unscrewing the screw is important if you dont the retainer can fall of and end up in the door........not good....
