SOURCE: gearbox ecu storing faults ,need to clear them

on some vehicles you remove the neg batt. cable for 15 seconds, then reconnect to clear fault codes,get more input to be sure

Limp mode transmission


Mercedes suffer with the radiator whereby the gearbox oil and engine coolant leak in together and cause gearbox to stay in lower gears like limp mode this will also give incorrect readings on coolant so worth getting both gearbox and coolant checked i beleive they call this a glycol test??

What would cause it to be stuck in third gear?


Some Vehicles have a seperate Electronic Control Unit for the gearbox. If there is a problem with the ECU or any electrical component inside the gearbox, i.e. pressure sensors or transducers the ECU will sence a fault which will limit the gearbox to either 2nd or 3rd gear assuming that the vehicle has an electronic gearbox. for this you will have to scan the OBD port with a scan tool... if it is an older vehicle, the gearbox will possibly work entirely off of pressure, in which case there might be a faulty seal or hose in the gearbox its self. Best to get it checked out by a licensed mechanic. This is not the kind of job you can do without the correct tools or knowlege

2006 kia sorento o2 sensor


Has it had the gearbox out? just thinking if it is v6 (two o2 sensors) the plugs may have been put back on the wrong sensors. you wouldn't think that would make a diffrence but I remember reading something about that on some type of vehicle & it was causeing it to fault somehow. Can't realy remember but worth swapping the wires over for a test.

P0320 Ignition/Distributor Engine Speed Input Circuit Malfunction


Its not picking up the engine speed which i think on this vehicle it reads from the ECU ,so i do feel for this sort of fault you will need the dealer diagnostic software for this and maybe even a new ECU ,best advice clear the fault light and take it to a garage and trade it in quick ,Maybe even a nice VW diesel with 70 MPG or dare i mention it a citreon or a skoda diesel manual gearbox then this sort of fault wouldnt bother a manual gearbox as your in control

Mercedesw202 c200 pms ecu system . car wont start


Hi I have a 1995 C200 Auto Sedan chs WDB 2020202F241703, I think I have a problem in the ECU. Only runs on two cylinders, I have changed the core pack on the 1 & 4 cylinders but the problem persists. The other problem is I don't know where the ECU (engine computer ?) is can anyone help ?

How to remove an ECU from an Audi multitronic gearbox


1. Jack the car up on Axel stands/ramps or if you have access to a pitit will make life a little easier. 2. You need to remove the splash guard underneath the car so you can seethe back of the gear box. 3. Drain the gear box of oil which will require a special tool which youcan get for £10 from Draper Expert 1/2 Square Drive Drain Plug Key For VW Or Audi63476 Draper Hdpk1. 4. Remove the electronic cable that connects onto the ECU that protrudesout the back of the back of the gear box. 5. The back of the gearbox has 12 torques holding the cover in place.Once you have removed most of them you will need to remove the rear enginemount to get at the last torque bolt at the top of the gear box. 6. Support the gear box with a trolley jack so you can lower the gearboxto get at the last few torques. 7. The rear engine mount can be slid towards the back of the car so youcan get at the back of the gear box. There is a couple of other bolts that youwill need to remove that hold the ECU cable in place. 8. Once you have all the torques that hold the gearbox in place thecover can be slid off. 9. Once the cover is removed be careful not to bend the metal gasket asit can be used again as long as it's not damaged (Audi would probably changethis along with the ECU seal). 10. Once the cover is off you can now see the ECU which is held in placeby 3 torques or Star bolts. 11. After the 3 torques have been removed you can then slide the ECU offbut be careful not to bend or tilt it as you remove it from the gearbox as ithas guide rails made of plastic which can break easily.

I have been told I need a gearbox rebuild. Car Audi A4 2002


Hi there. Your vehicle is fitted with an electronic automatic transmission and I suggest that before any expensive rebuild work is undertaken on the transmission, especially when you say it drives fine, it that the intermittent electrical problem is resolved. You should firstly have an authorised Dealer check out the fault codes on the transmission ECU – this might identify where the problem is. They will also be able to perform a ‘Stall Test’ and again this will determine the effective operation of the gearbox. Hope this helps, Scottech.
