Changing a oil pan for a 95 grand marquis

Just loosen oil plug and drain...take out pan bolts... drop down...make sure alt gasket material is off of both pan and bottom of motor. Lay new gasket on oil pan...possibly use gasket sealer to keep gasket in place...a very thin layer on oil pan then put gasket on. Let dry for a bit then bolt back up...make sure oil plug is back in then refill....cheers!

How do i remove a gasket that is stuck and no longer soft?

Use a scraper and "carefully" pull the old gasket off. Make sure you do not damage the surface. It is likely that the previous repairer used gasket cement to hold the gasket on, and that is why it is hard to remove. If you take your time and do it carefully, you will get the gasket off without damage.

Where can I buy a differential gasket for a 1983 Buick Riviera.. Actually it's the pan gasket for the differential and the gasket between the differential and the transmission and its a front differential....

try an auto spares shop as discontinued gaskets are generally covered by after market suppliers
car manufacturers do not make the gaskets and when a model reaches a year point the manufacturer stops the order for the parts but the gasket manufacturer still makes the gaskets for after market.consumption.

Changed my oil today. When I took the cap off to replace the oil,the cap had some white goo on it.What is this?

Could be a leaking cylinder head gasket or a small crack in the cylinder head. Is the head aluminum? Make and mileage of the vehicle will sometime help as some vehicle makes are notorious for head gasket problems. This allows coolant into the oil and causes this goo on the inside of the cap. Have a trustworthy shop check it out to be sure.

drain coolant until its below the thermostat.then remove two thermostat housing bolts.remove thermostat housing and thermostat.make note position of thermostat before removing it.then carefully clean all old gasket material from thermostat housing and cylinder block you can buy can gasket remover at any auto parts stores.buy new thermostat gasket.if you have the paper type you need to buy RTV SILICONE to help seal gasket if you have rubber type gasket you dont need RTV SILICONE.make sure both surfaces are clean.then install new thermostat and new gasket.if you have paper type gasket apply thin 1/16 coat RTV SILICONE both sides thermostat gasket.then install gasket to thermostat housing then install housing to cylinder block first make sure new thermostat in place before installing thermostat housing. let RTV silicone sit up about hour before adding coolant.IF THERMOSTAT HAS THE O RING SEAL DONT NEED RTV SILICONE AND THE PAPER GASKET.

Head gasket blown 4.3 L vortec V6

Iwould make sure its not the intake manifold gasket first witch is much more comon an the 4.3 if ti over heats once it will make the gasket leak . You can check by doing a compressition test on the engine . Neighter of the gaskets is fun or easy to do but the intake maniflod is less work and cheaper and more likely to be your problem

Oil pan gasket

drin the oil from the oil pan and remove all bolts except the 4 corners .Take the 4 corner bolts outabout half way and try to pry or bump the pan to loosen from the engine.check to make sure all wiring and maybe oil filter will clear to make oil pan easy..Very important to make sure al surfaces are clean and reinstall oil pan with new gasket.I always use adhesive to the gasket and oil pan to ensure gasket does not move during install

I know my intake gaskets are leaking on my 97 lumina 3.1 , but I'am not sure the head gaskets are bad, could coolant get in the cylinders from this? I was going to pressure test the cooling system over...

BETTER OFF DOING HEADGASKETS IF YOU ARE GOING TO DO INTAKE GASKETS BECAUSE YOU WILL BE 3/4 OF THE WAY TO HEAD GASKETS. INTAKE GASKETS ARE COMMON, AND SO ARE HEADGASKETS.
