SOURCE: 2005 Golf TDI Diesel - EGR "Emissions workshop" fault light

Hi, The EGR valve itself is on a set of flexible pipework - usually stainless steel - which runs between the inlet manifold and the exhaust manifold. The EGR actuator valve is pneumatically / vacuum operated by a solenoid valve, controlled by the ECU ( aka the brane). It's not usual for the EGR valve itself to fail, more likely the solenoid valve or its electrical connector getting dirty. If you google for VAG TDI N75 valve you should get all the info you could possibly ever need :-)

Hope this helps, D.

SOURCE: Renault Clio automatic 1.6 RXE 1999

remove the bulb then it cant bother you ,if it drives alright leave well alone or it will cost you a new ECU unit so just ignore it or a bit of black tape over bulb or remove the bulb
check transmission level with drive wheels chocked up ,handbrake on and engine running with reverse selected.and thats as much as you can do as this gearbox in common with all modern cars is all electric, and its a renault which means its encrypted software so no weekend mechanic tune up gizmo from the states will evan contemplate trying to read this properly ,just a load of mumbo jumbo .trust me its a renault , i know what these gizmo sellers promise about their wonder readers and such but on modern cars from 2007 they are useless as now all modern cars are encrypted and your famous renault started it.This is so that all work on a brand of cars can only be undertaken by the dealer and general garages can go and hang their overhauls up for good or turn their garages into car washes or a big mac outlet

SOURCE: Freelander shuddering and gerking when accelerating in 3rd & 4th

More than likely you are having an engine missfire. They are reknowned for problems with the coil packs that produce the spark for the plugs. They it up the road and labour the engine until it does it on full throttle. then back of the throttle to see if it stops. |Then back on to see if it starts again. Most likely it will. Change the plugs first. this will probably cure it short time as new plugs reduce the load on the coil packs. Best change coil packs though also.

SOURCE: Automatic shudders on some gear changes.

This car has both options of auto transmission plus manual gear **** so the only reason it can shudder when the clutch is not fully released and thus takes some time, that's when it shudders, but on accelerating this will not happen cos the centripetal clutch has enough torque such that the clutch is pressed hard to the cam & therefore no shuddering. On cruising speed the probability of clutch slipping making the car shudder. Thus changing the clutch assembly ought eliminate this problem....sodeep

I have a Land Rover Freelander 2004 1.8L Manual transmission....and i would like to know how to chek the gearbox fuild level and condition and how can i change it plzz :) thanQ all

OOOO yip i do hope you have small hands. Facing the engine from the front, on your right side very close to your cv joint, is a filler plug. with a few whiskeys later you will eventualy be able to unscrew the plug. To change the oil you need to remove the under tray. Under the gearbox towards the front is the drain plug. Good luck

Hard shifting

after checking oil level in auto box(top line on dipstick in "P")try this, without using any gas at all,put into drive and let car reach max speed (about 30/35).then using half gas do the same, without moving your right foot, then if safe do the same, with full gas.as the gearbox is computer controlled, you have just reset the shift pattern back to its start position. The car will now change according to your driving style,(if multi user,it will take about 50m to read your style again)
if driven hard it will change hard.......
any help??

Automatic gearbox out of order. Oil black and burned. I will shift to a new one. Do I need to shift the torque converter as well?

if i was you i would change the torque converter its the safest bet, the box must have been very low on oil and maybe slipping for a time to burn the oil black!!!
however you may still get away with cleaning the internal filter and just flushing the old box out with ATF and refilling it with fresh ATF oil
yes,,its been cooked up, but mine still worked for years after i cooked it up and it changed much smother after that too??
