Have a ford 3000 tractor and the hydralic lever has to be lowered position to get equipment to lower is there a way to adjust lever so equipment will lower without shoving the lever all way to bottom

lower the bottom portion, there will be two black cables. follow them toward the back of the seat, past a black round plate, where they become top and bottom cables. Push down toward the floor board on the bottom cable (my bottom cable is no longer black coated but rather a bare feeling cable wire). When pushing down on the bottom cable, pull the seat forward. As the seat does come forward the headrest will fold back at the same time. Not an easy find for me either, they should just make a release lever, but oh well..... I Hope this helps. Just keep playing around with those two cables until it finally does release.

Replace ignition switch on 99 jeep wrangler


The ignition key must be in the key cylinder for cylinder removal. The key cylinder must be removed first before removing ignition switch.REMOVAL 1. Disconnect negative battery cable at battery. 2. If equipped with an automatic transmission, place shifter in PARK position. 3. Rotate key to ON position.4. A release tang is located on bottom of key cylinder.5. Position a small screwdriver or pin punch into tang access hole on bottom of steering column lower cover.INSTALLATION 1. If equipped with an automatic transmission, place shifter in PARK position. 2. Position key cylinder into steering column as it would normally be in the ON position. 3. Press key cylinder into column until it snaps into position. 4. Check mechanical operation of switch. Automatic Transmission: Be sure transmission lever is locked in PARK position after key removal. If key is difficult to rotate or is difficult to remove, the shift lever-to-steering column cable may be out of adjustment or defective. If key can be removed, release lever mechanism may be defective. Release lever mechanism is not serviced separately. If repair is necessary, the steering column must be replaced. 5. Where is the neutral safety switch located on 1998 ford crown victoria


On 1992 and later models, the neutral safety switch is incorporated into the Manual Lever Position or Transmission Range MLP/TR sensor.

RENOVAL & INSTALLATION
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle safely on jackstands.
  3. Place the transmission in Neutral.
  4. Remove and discard the manual control lever nut, then remove the lever from the transmission.
  5. Detach the TR sensor electrical harness connector, remove the TR sensor retaining bolts, then pull the TR sensor off of the transmission case.
To install:
  1. Position the TR sensor against the transmission case and loosely install the 2 retaining screws.
  2. Attach the TR sensor electrical harness connector.
  3. Use an alignment tool, such as the TR Sensor Alignment Tool T93P-70010-A, to align the TR sensor slots.
  4. Tighten the TR sensor bolts to 80-100 inch lbs. (9-11 Nm).
  5. Position the manual control lever onto the TR sensor, then install the new lever nut to 22-26 ft. lbs. (30-35 Nm).
  6. Lower the vehicle.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.

Park is the last detent when the manual control lever is full forward. Return 2 detents toward the output shaft for Neutral.

  1. Position the manual control lever in Neutral .
  2. Raise the and safely support the vehicle.
  3. Loosen the sensor retaining bolts.
  4. Insert Gear Position Sensor Adjuster tool T93P-700 10-A or equivalent, into the slots.
  5. Align all 3 slots on the MLP sensor with 3 tabs on the tool.
  6. Tighten the attaching screws to 80-100 inch lbs. (9-11 Nm).
  7. Lower the vehicle.

Shift Controls, Automatic Transmission The transmission shift control linkage or cable transfers the transmission operating mode from the selector lever to the transmission. The indicated transmission position on the steering column is transferred to a shift lever on the bottom of the steering column. On vehicles equipped with cable-operated shift systems, the indicated position of the transmission selector lever is transferred to the transmission through the shift cane, then to the cable, and down to the transmission manual shift lever at the transmission. On vehicles equipped with shift rod assemblies, the rod transfers the indicated transmission selector level position through a bell crank assembly to a control rod. The control rod transfers the indicated position to the transmission assembly.

Automatic Transmission Manual Linkage Adjustments
  1. With the engine stopped and the parking brake applied, place the transmission selector lever at the steering column in the D (DRIVE position) for C6 applications and in the (D) (OVERDRIVE position) for AOD and E4OD applications, and hold against the D or (D) stop by applying a three-pound force to the selector lever knob.
  1. Loosen the shift rod adjusting nut at point A. Refer to the following illustrations.
  1. Shift the manual lever at the transmission into the (D) (overdrive) position for E4OD, by moving the lever all the way rearward, then forward two detents.
  1. With the selector lever and transmission manual lever in the(D) position, tighten the nut at point A to 17-24 Nm (12-18 ft-lb) torque. Use care to prevent motion between the stud and rod.
  1. Remove the three-pound force from the steering column selector lever knob.
  1. Operate the shift lever in all positions to make certain that the manual lever at the transmission is in full detent in all gear ranges. Re-adjust the linkage if required.
  1. On F-Super Duty Chassis Cab and Motorhome and Commercial Chassis recheck for correct operation of the automatic transmission selector indicator (PRN(D)21). Refer to Section 11-04A, Steering Column, Shift Rod Within Tube. ani_caut.gif CAUTION: Under no circumstances will it be permissible to adjust linkage in any position other than the(D) position for E4OD applications.

Automatic Transmission Shift Cable Adjustment
  1. From inside the vehicle, place the column shift select lever in the DRIVE position (C6) of the OVERDRIVE (AOD and E4OD). Hang a three-pound weight on the selector lever.
  1. Raise vehicle on a hoist.
  1. Remove the shift cable from the transmission lever ball stud.
  1. Pull down the lock tab on the shift cable body.
  1. Position the transmission shift lever in the DRIVE position (C6) or the OVERDRIVE position (AOD and E4OD). This is three detents from the front-most lever position with the first position counting as one.
  1. Connect the cable end fitting to the transmission lever ball stud.
  1. Push up on the lock tab to lock the cable in the correctly adjusted position.
  1. Lower vehicle down from hoist and remove the three-pound weight from the column shift select lever.
  1. After making the adjustment, check for park engagement. Check the transmission control lever in all detent positions with the engine running to make sure correct detent/transmission actions. Readjust if necessary.

1984 Ford Tempo - Rear Drum brake drum/shoes
REMOVAL & INSTALLATION


See Figures below instructions

1. Raise and safely support the vehicle with jackstands.

2. Remove the wheel, tire, hub and finally, the drum assembly.

3. Using a spring removal tool, remove the horizontal securing spring at the top first of the assembly.

4. Pull the adjuster locking plate away from the shoes.

5. Remove the lower horizontal securing spring.

6. Unfasten one of the 2 shoe hold-down springs and remove the pin.

7. Remove the brake adjuster.

8. Remove the remaining hold down spring and clip.

9. Lift the brake shoes assembly off the backing plate and wheel cylinder assembly. Be careful not to bend adjusting lever during the removal process.

10. Remove the parking brake cable from the parking brake lever.

11. Remove the horseshoe retaining clip and spring washer and slide the lever off the parking brake lever pin on the trailing shoe.



To install:

12. Apply a light coating of high temperature grease at the points where the brake shoes contact the backing plate.

13. Apply a light coating of lubricant to the adjuster screw threads and the socket end of the adjusting screw. Turn the adjusting screw into the adjusting pivot nut to the limit of the threads and then back-off 1 / 2 turn.

14. Assemble the parking brake lever to the trailing shoe by installing the spring washer and a new horseshoe retaining clip. Crimp the clip until it retains the lever to the shoe securely.

15. Attach the parking brake cable to the parking brake lever.

16. Attach the lower retracting spring to the leading and trailing shoe assemblies and install to backing plate. It will be necessary to stretch the retracting spring as the shoes are installed downward over the anchor plate to inside of shoe retaining plate.

17. Install the adjuster screw assembly between the leading shoe slot and the slot in the trailing shoe and parking brake lever. The adjuster socket end slot must fit into the trailing shoe and parking brake lever.



The adjuster socket blade is marked R or L for the right or left brake assemblies. The R or L adjuster blade must be installed with the letter R or L in the upright position, facing the wheel cylinder, on the correct side to ensure that the deeper of the 2 slots in the adjuster sockets fits into the parking brake lever.

18. Assemble the adjuster lever in the groove located in the parking brake lever pin and into the slot of the adjuster socket that fits into the trailing shoe web.

19. Attach the upper retracting spring to the leading shoe slot. Using a suitable spring tool, stretch the other end of the spring into the notch on the adjuster lever. If the adjuster lever does not contact the star wheel after installing the spring, it is possible that the adjuster socket is installed incorrectly.

20. Inspect your work to make sure it is correct.

21. Install the hub/drum and wheel/tire assemblies and adjust the wheel bearings.

22. Lower the vehicle and check brake operation.

Looking for the neutral safety switch


Neutral Safety/Back-up Light Switch

This is a combination switch which controls both Neutral Safety and Back-up lamp circuits.

C6 neutral start switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle on jackstands.
  3. Remove the downshift linkage rod return spring at the low-reverse servo cover.
  4. Coat the outer lever attaching nut with penetrating oil. Remove the nut and lever.
  5. Remove the 2 switch attaching bolts, disconnect the wiring at the connectors and remove the switch.
  6. Installation is the reverse of removal. Adjust the switch and tighten the bolts to 55-75 inch lbs. (6.2-8.5 Nm).
  7. Remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle.
  8. Connect the negative battery cable.

Removing the AOD neutral start switch
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle on jackstands.
  3. Disconnect the wiring from the switch.
  4. Using a deep socket, unscrew the switch.
  5. Installation is the reverse of removal. Tighten the switch to 10 ft. lbs. (14 Nm).
  6. Remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.

Removing the Manual Lever Position (MLP) sensor

As of 1994, the neutral safety switch is referred to as a Manual Lever Position Sensor (MLP).
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle on jackstands.
  3. Disengage the harness connector from the MLP sensor.
  4. Remove the 2 sensor attaching bolts and remove the sensor.
To install:
  1. Install the MLP sensor and install retaining bolts. Do not tighten, the sensor requires adjustment.
  2. Adjust the MLP sensor then tighten attaching screws to 80-100 inch lbs. (9-11 Nm).
  3. Remove the jackstands and lower the vehicle.
  4. Connect the negative battery cable.


ADJUSTMENT

C6 Transmission
  1. Hold the steering column transmission selector lever against the Neutral stop.
  2. Move the sliding block assembly on the neutral switch to the Neutral position and insert a 0.091 in. (2.3mm) gauge pin in the alignment hole on the terminal side of the switch.
  3. Move the switch assembly housing so that the sliding block contacts the actuating pin lever. Secure the switch to the outer tube of the steering column and remove the gauge pin.
  4. Check the operation of the switch. The engine should only start in Neutral and Park .

Transmission range sensor and neutral safety switch are the same thing (when you go to buy the part). It's at the top of your transmission. You'll see the shifting cable connected to it. Here are the instructions for adjustment:
Shift Control Linkage
The transmission shift linkage adjustments must be performed in the order in which they appear.

Column Shift

Place transaxle range selector lever in (D) (OVERDRIVE) position or D (DRIVE) position on vehicles equipped with a transmission control switch (TCS). A weight of 1.4 kg (3 lb) should be hung on the transaxle range selector lever to ensure the lever is located firmly on the (D) (OVERDRIVE) or D (DRIVE) position on vehicles equipped with a transmission control switch (TCS) detent.

Loosen manual control lever-to-control cable retaining nut.

Move transaxle manual control lever to OVERDRIVE position or D (DRIVE) position on vehicles equipped with a transmission control switch (TCS), second detent from most rearward position.

Tighten retaining nut to 17-23 Nm (13-17 lb-ft). Check operation of transaxle in each transmission range position. Make sure that park mechanism and transmission range (TR) sensor are functioning properly.

Floor Shift

Position transaxle range selector lever in DRIVE position against rearward stop. The floor transaxle range selector lever must be held in the rearward position using a constant force of 1.4 kg (3 lb) while linkage is being adjusted.

Loosen manual control lever-to-control cable retaining nut.

Move transaxle manual control lever to DRIVE position, second detent from most rearward position.

Tighten retaining nut to 17-23 Nm (13-17 lb-ft).

Check operation of transaxle in each transmission range position. Make sure that park mechanism and transmission range (TR) sensor are functioning properly.



To take it off, it's a couple of retaining bolts and a wiring harness.

You may have a loose shift linkage in the steering column. Remove the upper and lower plastic covers behind the steerong wheel (5 or 6 philips head) and see if you have any loose torx head or allen head screws. Ea

I need instructions on how to put a locksmart switch ingnition


Removal
  1. Disconnect battery ground cable. Remove the steering column shroud by removing the four or five self-tapping screws. Remove tilt lever (if so equipped).
  1. Remove instrument panel lower steering column cover.
  1. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector.
  1. Rotate ignition key lock cylinder to the RUN position.
  1. Remove the two screws retaining ignition switch.
  1. Disengage the ignition switch from the actuator.
Installation
  1. Adjust the ignition switch by sliding the carrier to the switch RUN position. NOTE: A new replacement switch assembly will be set in the RUN position as received.
  1. Check to ensure that the ignition key lock cylinder is in the RUN position. The RUN position is achieved by rotating the key lock cylinder approximately 90 degrees from the LOCK position.
  1. Install the ignition switch into the actuator. It may be necessary to move the switch slightly back and forth to align the switch mounting holes with the column lock housing threaded holes.
  1. Install retaining screws. Tighten to 5.6-7.9 Nm (50-69 lb-in).
  1. Connect electrical connector to ignition switch.
  1. Connect battery ground cable. Check ignition switch for proper function, including START and ACC positions. Also, make certain that the column is locked in the LOCK position.
  1. Install instrument panel lower steering column cover.
  1. Install the steering column trim shrouds and tilt lever (if so equipped).
