just a stab in the dark here. maybe starter drive bad, or starter sellinoid, or the worst case teeth gone on one section of flywheel. i would say its either starter drive or starter sellinoid. either case starter has to be removed. hope this helps. OLD SCHOOL.

Yeah you can but it won't be easy. I would check some salvage yards for one with a stick in it. That way you can find all the parts you will need. Not only do you need the trans, you will need clutch, flywheel, slave cylinder, master cylinder, Clutch and brake pedals, cv shafts, mounts, shifters, shifter cables, and the computer, plus some other parts. I have done some of these conversions, they are not impossible. I have done this to a 2000 BMW 323. I can help you more if you want.

SOURCE: where is the transmission speed
You will find this on the back of the transmission, it has a large square connector and wiring connector to it. It has 1 bolt holding it in place.
