First check the fluid level. If that is good, try some conditioner/trans cleaner that is made for GM. A used tranny that was sitting probably has some sticky valves.

How do I fix a gear shift it moves but wont go in any gear its a 2000 chevy impala

S heck the linkage at the transmission to make sure it is moving with the gear shifter. If it is your transmission is probably shot. If not then you have a bushing in the li kage that is bad.

06 Chevy impala will start fine and allow me to switch gears but car will not move

Auto transmission: check transmission fluid level, add if low. Check for transmission codes.

Manual transmission: check linkage and cabling between pedal and clutch.

Sounds like worn clutches, more than likely the transmission needs rebuilt or replaced.

I have an 03 chevy venture Auto Tranny, last night i parked it it was fine. this morning i start the car, apply the break and when i try to shift out of park it just moves freely down all the gears without...

There is a cable that goes from your shifter to the transmission range sensor that is mounted on the transmission. This cable moves that sensor to select the gear you are in. The gear indicator also uses this sensor to display what gear you are in. Either cable has broken or it has just come off of the range sensor. It is also possible the sensor has broken internally. Follow that cable to the transmission and have someone move the shifter while you look to see if the sensor is being moved. You may even just find you only have to push the cable back on as it could have just come off. If this is the case, you'll need to replace that cable or it'll just do this again later.

2003 Chevy Impala feels like transmission slips when first starting out. Told it was a solenoid

Check trans fluid level. May need to flush trans fluid and filter and adjust bands. First gear and reverse are first to go out. Low fluid level would cause slipage

2003 impala 42K miles. shuddered and stop moving. Car starts but will not move when put into gear.

IT sounds like the transmission has failed. Check the fuse in the fuse box and look to see if the fuse to the transmission has blown. Check the transmission fluid level and condition of the fluid, what you described sounds like the Torque Converter did not unlock and now will not lock up. Most likely it's going to be a electrical problem since you only have 42K miles on it un-less you have been running it hard and may have broke something mechanical. Good luck and keep me posted.
