04 Avalanche 3rd battery in 6 to 8 months wont stay charged???

batteries will self discharge over a period of time especially in cold weather
however 3 batteries replaced in 6 months raises issues
first question is why would they not charge up on a charger or a run in the vehicle
second question is the battery of sufficient size to run the electronics
have you had the alternator bench tested to check for correct out put, regulator operation and rectifier problems
check drive belt condition and tension
the wire could be a ground wire but I would think that if it is significant then something would not be working correctly

I have a 2000 garaged Mustang w/ only 22,000 miles.The dealer is advising the following services: Change fuel filter. Coolant exchange,pis exchange, and fuel and induction services. Transmission flush. Do...

It depends on the length of time that the vehicle has been not running. The fuel filter I would give a miss. Transmission oil can become contaminated with moisture and if not used for a period of time tends to promote rust in the exposed parts in the transmission. The coolant should be changed every 2 years or checked for % in the water. Generally I would say that if the garage period was less than 3 months then all I would be doing would be charging the battery . If over 12months off the road the a test of the coolant for % and an oil change of the transmission would be about as far as I would go. Remember that the engine oil should be changed every 6 months if run in that period of time to remove water moisture in the oil from the combustion process

CAN YOU GET SHORT TERM REGO FOR CAR

the regulations in QLD state that the vehicle has to be registered in QLD almost immediately if you have a permanent address in this state. The exceptions are service personal who are allowed to keep current rego until it runs out and then it has to be registered in QLD. You will need to have a QLD road worthy done and there is a six month rego period available. Any rego period is refundable less 1 month So if you have it regoed for 6 months , stayed for a month then surrender the plates you may claim 4 months refund. Best check it out at a main roads office near you as regulations change on a regular basis.

    Car will not start due to pats system

    If you are in the North East cold weather then you should get a friend and jump your car.
    Check the tag / model # on your battery.
    =====
    The last two digits is the warranty coverage period.
    48 = 48 months
    72 = 72 months
    Check your service record and see is it close to the end of the warranty period.
    Most battery can go 6 to 16 month beyond the warranty period.

    Also check and clean the air filter. Replace if necessary.
