How much should automatic transmission fluid exchange cost?

This depends on exactly what they are doing. I think the lube shops that are equipped for fluid pump out, is the most effective. typically they change the filter, then they hook up to the cooling hoses, run the car, and pump in new fluid while allowing old to pump out... This flushed torque converter, all lines and cooler. Doubt the dealer has this method. and it should run about 100 bucks less than the dealer.

All that being said, the trans service is VERY important to do, and especially the filter (on most cars). What happens is the trans clutch material (like brake dust) eventually clogs the filter and when you lose pressure, the trans will self destruct.

How do I use the 4 wheel drive on my 1998 Ford explorer. It has a switch that can be turned to auto, 4 low, or 4 high

you can switch into and out of the auto or 4 high modes while moving.

If you want to use 4 low you must stop and place your transmission in neutral. While stopped, turn the switch to 4 low. To get out of 4 low, again stop and in neutral switch back to desired mode. DO NOT SWITCH TO 4 LOW WHILE MOVING!

Good luck fuel pump on my 94 Silverado is not pumping enough pressure at high speeds when I push it to the floor will have shifting problems

Try new fuel filter before going to hassle of fuel pump change. Not sure what shifting problems you are talking of...automatic or manual? Shifting at high speed? You mean high rpm or absolute speed ..+60 mph?

Hello I have 2005 Toyota Hiace, diesel, auto with the 2KD-FTV engine. had problem with the vehicle this morning, had not change the fuel filter in about 5 months, it was dirty. I replace the filter, t

The pump is probably ok from the tank but the injector pump may have been damaged if the filter failed and allowed particulate to enter the pump also the injectors themselves maybe clogged best way to check the pump is with an oscilloscope (lab scope) check the amperage waveform with the lab scope and calculate the rpm , also check the fuel pressure from the pump with an appropriate fuel gauge

My truck turns over but won't start...not enough pressure in fuel pump.

Will it start if you poor some gas down the throttle body? If so then it is a fuel problem. There are some things that will need to be checked. First you need to take a fuel pressure test. If you don't have the equipment to perform the test you can borrow it from Auto Zone. After the gauge is hooked up turn on the key and watch the gauge. It should clime to about 40 PSI (find out what the spec's are for your truck) If it doesn't clime check for restrictions in the system - fuel filter, kinks in line or leaks. The filter in the tank on the end of the fuel pump could be plugged. But before you go pulling the tank check the pressure regulator on the fuel rail it could be allowing the fuel to return to the tank. Another possibility is a stuck fuel injector. If everything checks OK then change the pump.

Toyota Vista SV50 model / year 1999: I have used Dextron type 2 automatic fluid in the auto transmission. Could this be the problem for auto gears sticking in same gear too long when car is started in...

Hi, since you use a dextron type 2 automatic fluid then it is not cause of the sticking gear. Rather it should be as a result of a clogged transmission filter. A clogged transmission filtercan cause problems with changing gears because it will not allow the fluid to pass through the valve body or valve solenoids at the proper pressure. Without pressure, the plates won't move properly and you won't be able to easily change gears. This can be symptomatic either by itself or along with burnt or worn out transmission fluid, and both should generally be replaced at the same time, rather than just replacing one or the other.

I ran out of gas I put 2 gallons in but the car won't start. It will tunr over, the lights come on, but the car won't start. Do you think I need to keep cranking it and add a can of starting spray...

sounds like when you ran out of gas, you clogged your fuel filter. Change your fuel filter and put a little bit more gas in it and she should fire right up. Hope this helps, James Booth. :)
