Question about 1994 Oldsmobile 88

1 Answer

Recently the car was getting harder and harder to start. It began with one or two extra tries to get the engine to turn over, soon it was 3-4 and the engine would chug and putter out immediately like it was out of fuel. When the final attempt was successful, it was like it started as normal. But then I parked the car in a garage on a slope with very little gas in it. When I tried starting it I attempted around 10 times of this puttering out. Finally something in the engine "snapped" and it only cranks and doesn't get to that point anymore.

I looked up timing chain problem and I listened to a sound clip. I've had a problem for the past few months with a rattling/bubbling/gurgling/growling noise that is constant with the engine on, independent of use (it's most obvious when it's idle). I think the noise is similar, but I'm not certain. When I try to start it, it will crank but not even try to start up. Would the timing chain problem affect this?

Truck will start but engine dies and service engine soon light comes on/truck was idleing fine for 10 minutes then began to hesitate then shut off when first happened

When the engine dies the Check eng light is supposed to come on. You need to do a fault code test on the OBD2 engine control module.

Mazda 6 keyless entry

One of the service writer guys at my local Acura dealer came out and programmed my new key fob on my RSX for me for free. Try that at your Mazda dealership. As I recall, I had to have all of the key fobs I planned to use on that car with me at the same time so that they would all get programmed the same. So bring all of yours with you, just in case.

Car is getting harder to start

If you think the engine is flooded hold the gas pedal about half way down, while you try to start it. Be ready to release the pedal as soon as it starts. That tells the computer that you think the engine is flooded and it will cut back on the fuel delivery, until the engine starts. You may have a bad fuel pressure regulator. I'm sorry I don't know too much about Subaru's.

I have a 2000 Mazda B4000. about a week ago it began starting harder and harder. Now I have to press down on the accelerater pedal slightly to get the engine to start. I have to keep the pedal pressed...

this is usually due to plugs and wires, but if thats not it try replacing the coilpack/s also.
Another thing check your fuel filter it might be a bit clogged.

2001 Cadillac Deville; noise after the engine starts

The whine sounds like the power steering or the alternator, as far as the idle issue goes try this clean the intake throttle body and idle speed control valve with carb spray, disconnect battery for 5 min. then reconnect and drive a few miles to reset idle strategy. The car will try to die when you spray the intake, hold the idle up to prevent that, use at least 1/2 the can of carb spray.
