What make , model , year and engine size ? That doesn't work on a lot of vehicles now a days ! Anti-theft systems , programming in the control modules . Plus on some the start circuit is a input to the PCM or the BCM , an hot wiring will not work .

2005 Chevy Equinox Power Seat Switch Diagram!

You see the circuit breaker, supplies voltage to power seat switch, You see the wire color? On hinge side of driver door is probably a wiring harness, probably has a protective rubber boot covering. Pull the boot back far enough to see wire colors, use a testlight, have to penetrate the insulation to get at the wiring. If no voltage, either wire is broken or check for voltage at the circuit breaker. Black wire is ground, check that also.

You see the wire colors for seat motors, those are voltage and ground, depending on which way the motor is moving.

Go to and buy the wiring for your vehicle. Other wise go to the junk yard and cut the plugs and wires out of an exact vehicle. This is the only two ways you will fix it. Exact diagrams or exact plugs and switches.

Electric windows not working

Check the fuses first and then the window switches themselves. You will have to remove them and put a meter on them. You can cross the wires to see if the window will go up or down. If you can do it by crossing the wires then the switch is bad.

'98 Mountaineer won't start and the battery sparks

You are lucky the Battery has not exploded. There is a difference if the engine does not crank, versus the engine cranking and then not starting.

For a non cranking problem, a common problem is the Interlock switch attached to the upper brake pedal lever. Usually this switch gets smashed by feet and then will short out. The broken switch can easily cross wires and cause sparking.

Wiring diagrams are available free at when you register your car. It sounds like some new parts may not have been properly connected. Compare the wiring diagrams with what you have. They have letters on the diagram representing the colors in the wire.

Disconnect your battery. Then check wiring and the switch I mentioned. Auto slang name is BOO switch.

Ford built products also require a strong battery to make the Security system perform properly. A charge of 13.2-13.6 volts is normal. The Antitheft gets cranky at anything approaching 12 volts. The Antitheft will reduce Voltage to the starter to around 7.5 Volts to prevent theft when Voltage approaches 12 Volts. Also the Battery Saver feature can disengage the charging circuit if Voltage drops to a predetermined level.

A minimum of sparking when connecting the battery is possible, interior lights and switches caught in midcycle need to complete their cycle. But not a strong spark which indicates a "Dead short".

Dead shorts are traced with the power off and using an Ohmmeter to find what device is grounding to the frame of the vehicle. Easiest to describe is you have 2 terminals, positive and negative. They only are suppose to connect to make a part work. If they connect improperly at some other place, you have a short or the part is shorting out internally. You would test the positive terminal of any part and it should not be connected to the negative ground until it is switched on to work. When you find a circuit with the wrong charge, that is where it is grounded.

I hope my solution helps you.

I have a 1993 buick lesabre. The security light is flashing and will not start. I checked the fuse it was ok. I tried our other key and still wouldn't start.

there may be a broken wire from the ignition swith going down the steering column, theres two sensors at the begining opening of switch, sometimes they get stuck and dont pop back out, in turn it doesnt touch the chip on the key and cant read it,take a look with a light use a small pic and push lightly on them and see if the y push in and pop out, if they do then replace ignition swith, theres a way to bypass, use an omh meter and measure resistance of key chip, then buy a resistor with the same value, and connenet to wires from switch under the dash, cut wires and put conecting the two going to switch with resistor connecting them together, heres a diagram,193b32f.jpg

On a 98 buick lasabre it does not start, battery is good, starter works(but no power to exciter wire when cranked), starter relay fine. I was wondering what was left to check, fusible link, park neutral...

Park neutral safety switch , try moving gear selector to neutral . If that doesn't let it start ,viewing wiring diagrams an testing the starter electrical circuit's with a DVOM - digital volt ohm meter .
How to voltage drop test starter motor circuit
Electric Testing Techniques You Need to Know

Learning the correct way to test will avoid hitting those walls .
Free wiring diagrams here Enter vehicle info. year , make , model an engine . Under system click on engine ,then under subsystem click on charging . two diagrams , one is the starter electrical circuit . Click search button then the second blue link. Is the security light lit on the instrument cluster ? This will keep it from starting .
