I have a 09 Ford Focus 2.0 it starts fine but after 3 sec it stalls and dies,I have checked the fuel pump,coils,crank sensor. Do you have any ideas

Hook up a fuel pressure gage to the fuel pressure test port on the engine (rent or borrow, make sure you get the right test gage), see if the fuel pressure shuts off when the engine starts to stall. Also do an OBD2 fault code test on the engine control module, it requires a code reader or if you have a nearby Autozone they will read the codes for free.

1993 jeep grand Cherokee Larado stalling for no reason. we have looked or changed coil, fuel pump, relays, cam sensor inside distributor, this thing still stalls out, but starts right back up.


Crank sensor. Its on the passenger side on the top of tranny. Will have either 1 or 2 10mm bolts holding it on. And a plug. My 94 had the same problem. It would run fine then you shut it off and all it woild do is crank. Wait like an hour and it will start back up. New crank sensor and it was fine

Have a 94 Pontiac Bonneville 3800 motor changed sparkplugs fuel pump crank sensor pig tail crank sensor and with no warning at all driving down the road my car dings an alarm 3 times and dies then it will...


I was just thinking about the sudden stall problem ,and no start problem .Have you checked the coil pack. When the car is cold it should start ,when it warms up ,with the under hood temps ,it will probably stall ,again. Try replacing the coil pack .

You will want to find out if you are not getting spark or not getting fuel.
If no fuel, then bad fuel pump, plugged fuel filter, or bad fuel pressure regulator, or bad fuel pump relay.

If no spark, then bad crank sensor, or ignition module, or coil packs.

you should check 3 things. AIr, Fuel, and "spark"
your cars could have many problems. Ignition module, fuel injectors, Mass Airflow Sensor.
You should check into all of these 3 things.
a crank-no start could be many things.
it could even be a cam positions sensors resistance going up when the engine heats up. Cracnk- no start means testing. n like i said
The motor is getting Air, There is Fuel being put into the cylinders, and the Spark plugs are firing.

you may have bent the flex plate ring.so it might be to far away from the crank sensor air gap.

2000 jeep cherokee starts then stalls in approx 3 sec 4.0 has new crank sensor


I am going to assume that it will not run even if you push on the accelerator pedal?
Can you install or attach an old timing light to the spark plug wires, turn it one and try to start it. The light should flash with the engine running, but if it shuts off at time of engine die, and the engine is still spinning, you are losing spark, My suggestion is the cranks shaft sensor on bell housing.
Second, install a pressure gage on the test port on the fuel rail and watch it as you start the engine, fuel pressure should not drop as the engine dies, if it does, the pump is not working correctly. There are two modes of power to that pump, one to start and timed, for only a few seconds to prime the system, and one to run continuously. Find the wires going to the pump at the tank. Connect test light to those wires and watch what happens during crank and at stall, You should not have the pump shut off and the engine dies.
If you have spark, and fuel pump working, when did you last change the filter,,but I put that LAST.
It has to be one or the other of these.
