dont think this vehicle has a fuel filter ,only a gauze inside the fuel tank on teh bottom of the sender/pump unit ,best advice i can give is that if it runs ok leave well alone you should never need to clean it out as modern petrol pumps in garages have micronic filters inside the delivery pumps .

Adjust rocker arms on 1990 2.9 ford

this is from the AutoZone web site.

2.9L Engine
No periodic valve lash adjustments are necessary on this engine. The engine utilizes a hydraulic valvetrain to automatically maintain proper valve lash. However, some earlier models have an adjusting screw on the rocker arm, which is used when assembling the engine to properly preload the lifter. If the engine has been disassembled, and the valve train parts were not kept in order, or there is an audible sound from the rocker arms while the engine is running, perform the adjusment procedure below.
The following procedure should be performed on a cold engine.
  1. On the cylinder to be adjusted, position the cams so that the tappets are in the base circle area.
  2. Loosen the adjusting screws until a distinct lash between the roller arm pad and the valve tip can be noticed.

The plunger of the hydraulic tappet should now be fully extended under the load of the internal spring.
  1. Carefully screw in the adjustment screws until the roller arms slightly touch the valves.
  2. To achieve the normal working position of the plunger, screw in the adjusting screw 1 1 / 2 turns, equivalent to 2mm.

  3. here is the site address. scroll down the page & you will see your engine size - 2.9

You need a diagnostic meter capable of shutting off the ABS light. Have a repair shop do it.

We have a ticking sound in the motor. what could it be and what should we do

Hi, this sound is usually caused by a failed hydraulic valve lash adjuster. The part should be replaced as soon as possible to avoid damage to the camshaft. The problem adjuster must be identified and the camshaft must be lifted to replace the lash adjuster. Depending on the location of the particular lash adjuster, the valve timing belt may also need to be removed. This is a job for a mechanic, but if you have some experience with camshaft work, you may be able to do it yourself. Please let me know if you have questions and thanks for using FixYa.

I need the engine valve spec for a 1984 chevy 6.2 diesel. We are adjusting the valves.

VALVE ADJUSTMENTS All gasoline and diesel engines in this guide use hydraulic valve lifters, which require no periodic maintenance or adjustment. However, in the event of cylinder head removal or any operation that requires disturbing or removing the rocker arms, the rocker arms must be adjusted in order to position the pushrods to allow the hydraulic lifters to maintain zero lash. Refer to the valve lash adjustment procedure under Rocker Arms, earlier in this Section.
