The torque converter is locked up, you need to have the system tested there should be a trouble code for a TCC solenoid, but do the test, most times the torque converter will need to be replaced, have worked for ford dealer 25 years and seen this many times.

Not a torque convertor problem probably.
It is unlikely it would both slip and bind, mutually exclusive symptoms.
More likely just engine losing power.
Check fuel filter, fuel pressure, tank venting, etc.

2003 taurus 3.0 motor, was just driving down the road and it stopped working. the transmission that is

If the transmission just quit pulling then most likely the pump drive splines in the torque converter are stripped. The is a very common problem from 99 to 03.You will at least need to replace the torque converter and the fron seal. You may have other wear issues inside the transmission depending on how many miles are on the car and could need to rebuild transmission as well. The torque converter is the piece that connects the transmission to the engine and allows slippage at lower speeds. The transmission will need to be removed to replace this part.Good Luck!

Can i change front transmission seal on 1997 F 150 without going inside transmission?

If it is the shaft seal on the torque converter, you don't have to open up the case, You will probably have to replace the torque converter, once the seal digs in like that and starts to leak, it cuts a path deep enough to where it can't be fixed. Hope this helps.

My 1997 f-150 truck transmission started to give me problems

It's a tranny problem the anti-freeze in the coolant destroyed the clutches in the tranny and all of the seals. This is a very bad problem the clutch material and the seals in that tranny are not made to stand up to the anti-freeze. The converter is less affected by because it not in the sealed housing of the tranny.

1994 F350 transmission intermittent problem

I had the same problem in my 96 f-350. The transmission has slipped recording a slip code in the transmission. You can pull the codes and get it. I shifts into a safe mode that increases the pressure inside your transmission as part od a fail safe. Plain and simple, you have to have the tranny rebuilt.
