Since it gets spark and fuel I suspect the low compression to be a large factor. What is the compression in the other cylinders?

most cars have an oil pressure sensor that is tied into the fuel system that will shut off fuel pump if oil pressure is low. Ford is famous for having a yellow fuel pump cut off switch that activates in a collision - you need to locate and check this 1st

Where is the fuse for the fuel pump on a 94 grand marquis

There appear to be 2 fuses that can affect the fuel pump. #8 which provides power for the fuel pump, and #4 which provides power for the fuel pump relay. Both of these fuses are in the High Current fuse panel, which is located in the engine compartment near the battery.

The warning in the owners manual states: Always disconnect the battery before servicing high current fuses.Ford recommends that high current fuses be replaced by a qualified technician.

My '84 s10 ran 2 years ago, then it sat outside untouched until now, it turns over but doesn't want to fire up. What should I do to get it running? Is it not getting enough fuel?

It needs a good tune up such as oil change, new wires and plugs, air filer, fuelfilter, and if possible try to drain gas lube all tire rod ends an as much as the chassis that has grease fittings.

I have a 98 Mercury Grand Marquis. Won't start

Check in the trunk and push the button on the Inertia switch. It should be on the drivers side of the trunk.

If this does not help, get a fuel filter and change it. If you can possibly get a fuel sample from the disconnected gas lines do it.

The new 10% gasohol will separate if it stands a few months. You may need to add fresh gas with a drying chemical like "Heet".

Where's the fuse panel on a 84' Mercury Grand Marquis

1984 Mercury Grand Marquis 5.0L TBI 8cyl
All vehicles are equipped with a fuse panel located on the left side of the lower instrument panel.

  1. Locate the fuse panel and remove the cover, if necessary.
  2. Look through the clear side of the fuse in question, to see if the metal wire inside is separated. If the wire is separated, the fuse is blown and must be replaced.
  3. Remove the fuse by pulling it from its cavity; no special tools are required.
  4. Replace the blown fuse using only one with the proper amp rating for that particular circuit. Push the fuse straight in until the fuse seats fully in the cavity.

Hope helped (rated this help).

Fuel pump

The fuel pump for the 1995 Mercury Grand Marquis is inside the gas tank. Early this year the Ford garage replaced it thinking it would fix a problem that was ultimately traced to a short that blew a component on the computer board. I ended up paying for the fuel pump, but just paid the material cost for the computer board.
