I have a 1990 nissan patrol. When i start the car te idle races off to 2300 RPM. The Auto choke seems to be free to move, and if i manually hold the auto choke off it stabalises at 1000 RPM

you can check for vacuum leaks use a short piece of hose like a stethoscope = no . try setting the and yellow part. loosen the screws and twist it counter clockwise, this should take it out of the high idle mode. the heater in the choke might be bad, ohm it and test for power

Hi, This seems like the automatic choke is not working best & easy way is get a choke cable from scrap yard & and use that and ignore the automatic choke. I dont know how many miles your spark plugs have done but if over 10,000 then it's worth changing the spark plugs at same time. Please leave me feed back: Malcolm Campbell, Thanks.

The automatic choke on a 2001 ford explorer seems to be inoperative. When the engne is cold it will not idle and stalls. once the engine is warmed up the symptoms go away. where is the choke located

Well it doesn't have a choke. There are a couple of common problems for this symptom. One is a defective Idle air control motor. The other is leaking intake manifold gaskets.

1998 C180 Sport Automatic choke faulty

If it's fuel injection I don't think it will have a choke. It will have what they call an Idle Air Bypass valve or something of that nature. If you can find it take it off and spay Carb cleaner through it. Be carefull not to get it in your eyes. I'll do some research and see if I can find a photo for you. A lot of the time they get dirty and just need a good cleaning.
