Parking and driving light stay on

Head lights work , parked, and are not dim.
i turn key, the dash warning lamps all glow for the lamp test
this is a must, do they>? and the CEL glows, IT MUST.
if all that works
we then turn the key to start. and the starter motor cranks fast
and Sounds normal for starter. does it.
the the engine fails to start, and sustain running. right>?
all the above true?
we then check for lost spark. (with a dream of engine good..bla bla0
it is good, on all cylinders. but i check spark timing cranking and
its bad, cam has lost time , cam belt or chain, im too lazy to look up.
spark timing is good.
so i check spark plugs tips.
oops , owner skipped the mandatory 60,000 mile tune up. they are at
END OF LIFE.
new sparks and it still wont start. sparks good. sparks dry. not floodihng
so i try TEST FUEL, i spray some in the plenum or intake.
and bam it runs for 3 seconds and stops, good ,this proves
engine is good, and spark is good.
just lost fuel.
so , can you get this far?
if yes, we can work lost fuel or flood, never of which i can predict.

Engine electricals

3) Spark: From battery to spark plug

The battery is the source of stored electrical power in the vehicle. A voltmeter between the terminals of a healthy battery should read 12.5 volts. A reading of 12.2 volts indicates a flat battery and a reading of 10.4 volts indicates a dead cell (each cell beingabout 2 volts). A battery should be capable of sustaining high current, as needed by the starter motor when turning the engine over. When the car is running the voltage measured across the terminals shouldbe between 14.2 and 14.5 volts. The value is the voltage being supplied to the battery by the output charge from the alternator. THis charging voltage should not alter much when additional load is applied to the battery (head lights on etc).
When the ignition key is turned to the second position, often referred to as 'key on engine off', all car functions are powered up including lights and fuel pump. When the key is turned to position 3 many ancillary functions are temporarily interrupted to allow the battery to meet the extra needs of the starter motor. Electrical charge from the starter switch passes through a master fuse and starter relay before energizing the starter solenoid. The starter solenoid moves the pinion gear on the starter motor to engage with peripheral teeth of the flywheel. Simultaneously, heavy copper contacts are bridged by this same movement causing the starter motor coils to become energized thereby turning the engine over.
During the ignition process electrical charge passes through the primary windings of the ignition coil(s). The engine control unit (ECU), taking signalsfrom the engine crank position sensor, collapses the field of the coil(s) appropriate to the cylinder requiring ignition. As the field collapses the secondary coil windings discharge very high voltage through the high tension lead to the spark plug. The charge is so high that at the spark plug gap the charge jumps across with a spark. The compressed fuel air mixture in the cylinder is ignited by this spark.
Checking the spark process starts with the plugs. The condition of the removed plugs reveals a lot about the nature of the ignition within the cylinders. Dark sooty deposits indicate overly rich fuel air mix and glazed plugs indicate overly hot lean mixtures. Removing the plugs (with the fuel pump relay unplugged) and holding the screw threads to the cylinder head whilst turning the engine over will reveal the quality of spark. The spark holders and leads should be examined for discharge through the insulation to the cylinder head. Removing the leads from the coil should reveal sparks emanating from the exposed connectors. Failure to see sparks at this point indicatesa failed coil (especially if neighboring coils show good spark) or a failed crank sensor if all coils show no spark.

No power to starter

At the starter key on or off make a quick connection with a screwdriver at +&-, if it sparks and turns over you need a new starter or solenoid.

Hi i have a Suzuki sj 413 and its got su carb and brand new coil but there's no spark at all and its been rewired by the haynes diagram but still no sparks it turn on the starter motor but nothing

old post. , its not stock, and you failed to state the year.?
sure
no spark these old cars have a 100% dedicated Distrib.
there is no EFI , early years.
the is a coil of that has no spark then the Dizzy VR and inside ignitor is bad.
if the spark is dead at 4 spark plugs or very weak and ok at the coil that means the timing on the CAM or the Dizzy or both is way off.
caused by rotor sparking between cap tower positions.

Wont start, engine turns strong, new battery, new plug wires?? Thinking coils are bad???

take off one plug wire from one of the coils, turn starter and see if a spark jumps, you will be able to hear the sparks if you are by the door turning the key. if you get no sparks the ignition module is bad, if you do get spark try same test for remaining plug wires one at a time. you may have a bad coil

2001 Ford Focus stopped running while i was driving and wont start. Makes a churning sound but no power is going to engine. I changed the ignition coil, still wont turn on. Any suggestions?

Can you explain more so I can help. What do you mean still wont turn on, engines doesn't start or starter motor doesn't turn. Have u taken out a spark plug and connected it to the cable put the end of the spark plug to a ground and make someone turn on the engine for a few seconds you should see some blue sparks. Carefully use gloves. If no sparks, spark plug is bad next thing to check instead of putting the spark plug in the cable put Philips screwdirver put the screwdriver near a ground not touching about one inch make someone turn the engine for a couple of second you should see the spark jumping from the screwdriver to the ground, If there are no sparks ignition coil or spark plug cables are not good. But u say u changed ignition coil so maybe your cables are not good. There is a connector near the ignition coil disconnect it and turn ignition switch on measure the voltage you should have in between 12vdc + or - .5 vdc if no voltage present there is a blown fuse, Check for it

1996 S-10 cranks but no fire

did you check to see if fuel pump is pumping. fuel filter isnt clogged is it? but you're sure there is no spark. because if there is spark it could be air flow problems.
and you changed the ignition switch so that's not it, how about the starter. is there any noise coming from the starter when you turn key? if it isn't lined up right.
there has to be spark if you did what you said take off a wire at night and try it . electricity to start goes, ign switch battery starter(is there a relay on s10s cant remember), the alternator is here also.to coil/distributor to wires to plugs to gasoline

also it could be the wires coming from the battery , check them for corrosion. if they are really corroded could be problem. and make sure your ground is good contact. ive seen corrosion inside wires causing no spark.
just a few ideas to check.
