Hi Paul, I already drained the gearbox oil, but the problem persist, if it is an electrical problem, where should I start looking, because I suspect it could be electrical?

start at the relay checking for battery power with ignition on at the green or pos purple wire if ok the relay should click when overdrive activated check the resitance of the solenoid to make sure its ok and check the wiring a schematic would be a good help if you can locate one

Sounds like a electrical problem but could be the little oil pump in the overdrive. first check the solenoid on the overdrive unit is being turned on with ign on. in 3rd or 4th gear use a test lamp or similar. the most likely cause is the switches on the gearbox that will not allow the overdrive to function in the incorrect gear. but could be the pump stuck or blocked filter

When I drive over 50 mph and stop, I get messages 'engine system default' and 'transmission system default'. The car slows down, but does not completely die out. I turn it off and am amble to restar

Sounds like you have lost overdrive. Most cars go into to limp mode with engine and transmission problems. Limp mode is reduced engine power and the transmission only shifts to certain gears. Keeps people from totally destroying the drive train.

1965 corvette right rear brake light not working

Want to sell it? Just run new wires to the left side. Since it works. If the plug is bad, you'll have to find one or solder the wires directly to the bulb. Then situate the bulb in the lens.

If it's something electrical you can try to reset the computer in in and see if that works. I do this by disconnecting the battery for about an hour and my cars are reset. Good Luck.

Daimler Jaguar Mk II V8 1965 - Advice wanted

The SP250 would not be your getaway car!! Optimum cruising speed is about 55mph. Beware of rust on this model. My fathers one had a small spot at the bottom of the drivers door, in 6 months in a irish winter had it spread very quickly, They rust as quick as the BJ40 70's toyota land cruisers. If as you say you need something that will run reliably, i would go for something that you can inspect the service history. If you have no proof other than the word of the seller that all this work was done on the car in the past 15 -20 years, ask for it, Ask for garage receipts, parts lists etc. If the seller cant produce them, Then generally avoid! If he can produce this stuff, ask him why he is selling it, you might get yourself a good buy there.

When you go to see the car make sure the engine is cold first

When you go to start it turn the ignition on, wait for all the gauges and ticking to stop before hitting the start button on the dashboard

Check floor and boot for rust

Check behind the front bumper for rust too, If the door cards are loose have a look behind them for rust inside the doors.

Let the engine warm up. Rev it hard and check for smoke. If it is blue, its burning oil. If it's black a tune up is needed

Good Luck
