How to replace the crank shaft position sensor on a 2001 chevy Tracker V6 Lt 2.5L

Get underneath the vehicle and look at where the engine joins the transmission case.

The crankshaft position sensor will be located on the bottom or side .. usually towards the bottom..

It will be held in place with either a screw or small bolt. Undo the screw/bolt and withdraw the sensor. It's a straightforward job.

Photo below is a generic image of crankshaft sensor:

2001 Chevy Venture hard to start and grey smoke.

In the older cars, before all the emission laws added so much electronic garb, black smoke meant a fuel problem and grey smoke indicated a problem with internal engine parts like piston rings. Hope this helps.

2001 cheve venture (service engine soon) trouble light on

If ou fixed whatever happened during the oil change, the light will cycle off after about 3 drive cycles.

The check enine light just tells you that you are not meeting emissions right now. Only be concerned if it's flashing. That means you are sending unburned fuel to your catalytic converter whih will overheat and self destruct.

Look for a vacuum hose disconnected and check all the onnections to sensors such as, vehcile speed control sensor, mass air flow sensor, crankshaft position sensor, camshaft poition sensor, throttle position sensor, etc. Good luck.
