My keyless entry for my 07 Honda Civic dry roted and fell apart. A security feature is it won't crank. if the metal and plastic aren't together. I ordered a new empty shell but when I opened the old one...

This is a common problem on key-less entry control unis. They are very cheaply made, in time the contacts the hold the button battery in place get loose from the PC board because the solder joints fail On some models there's is a small spring that transfers power from one side of the board to the other, the spring may have fallen out when you took it apart so the power will only be on one side. look very closely inside the shells of the old one you should be able to see a small round wear spot someplace and a corresponding small hole etc on the other half of the shell, if you find them the small spring is missing. Use any metal spring that fits and snip it to the right height, then assmble and it should work, providing your battery(s) is good.

How to remove door bushings

The only door bushings I am aware of are the ones on the hinge pins. Correct? If not, please clarify what you mean.
New pins come with new bushings, and the hinges are welded on so the pins are pretty much the only items replaceable. Not a fun job - because of the door stop springs you will need a spring compressor, and you will also need a special tool to drive out the old pins. However, both are available from a parts store or Amazon.
Just open the door and support it from the bottom, and then go for it, one pin at a time - for the upper pin, compress and remove the small spring, drive out the old pin, drive in the new pin and put the spring back. No spring on the bottom hinge - just replace the pin.

Change struts on olds intrigue

remove brake caliper, then remove tierod end and if front wheel drive you will need to disconnect shaft from wheel. remove two bolts holding strut on. then on top remove what should be three bolts holding strut in place...DO NOT remove large center nut connected to shock. This holds the spring in place and if removed could really hurt you bad. some people have been killed doing this. After removing strut take to shop and have coil spring from old struts put on new struts...PLEASE do not attempt this yourself for it is very dangerous.....hope this info helps and good luck Please rate my post...

Can a bad and looser serpentine belt drain my battery.

  • Hi, I can help.
  • Drain your battery no. Prevent your battery from properly charging and causing loss of power yes.
  • The serpentine belt spins the pulley on your alternator which in turns charges your battery.
  • If the belt is loose and slipping then the belt will not spin the alternator pulley fast enough to maintain a proper battery charge.
  • This in turn wears on the battery.
  • Please note that sometimes the belt can be fine and the spring in the tensioner arm can be worn giving improper tension to the belt. This would have the same results.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

What is the quickest way to change a thermostat on a 2003 dodge intrepid

Hello Kalel6877...the "quickest" way is let a shop put it on a hoist and do it...but if you want to tackle this one i'll walk you through it.
Raise your Dodge Intrepid with a jack and lower onto jack stands, or use wheel ramps. Set parking brake and/or chock wheels
Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. Open the drain plug at the bottom of the radiator and drain the coolant into a suitable container.
On Intrepids with 2.7L engines, follow the lower radiator hose to the thermostat housing. Loosen the hose clamp at the end of the radiator hose with a screwdriver and pull the hose off the thermostat housing.
Unbolt the two bolts holding the thermostat housing cover on and pull off the cover. On 2.7L Intrepid engines, it is easier to gain access to the thermostat housing behind the alrernator by working from beneath the engine.
Note the position of the old thermostat and remove. Install the new thermostat with the spring-side facing into the engine. Clean any old gasket residue from inside the thermostat housing cover. Install the new thermostat gasket.
Reinstall the thermostat housing cover and tighten bolts to 105 inch/pounds. Reattach the radiator hose and tighten the hose clamp. Refill the radiator with reserve or new coolant. Reattach the negative battery cable.
Start your Dodge Intrepid and allow it to run with the heater on high until it reaches normal operating temperature. Check radiator hose for leaks and tighten the hose clamp to stop any leaks, if necessary.
Thats about it...jack her down and pat yourself on the back.
Good luck..i hope this helps...please take time to rate me a fixya.
