Iot is a safety switch so modification or bypass is not a good idea
better to replace the switch or fix the wires or adjust it properly

My 92 Caddy Deville has reverse lights that stay on while I'm driving, how do I get them to turn off?

Hello: The back up lights get 12volts through the neutral safety switch. This is mounted on the top of the transmission on the drivers side. The switch could be out of adjustment and or failed or the wiring could be bad. To check te wiring disconnect both connectors on the switch, turn key on engine off apply park brake put transmission in drive and check to see if the reverse lights are on.

How do you replace the neutral safety switch

Mode switch is on the LH side of the transmission.
Unclip the mode switch cover.
Disconnect the nut that holds the selector lever to the mode switch and pull the lever away.
Disconnect the harness from the mode switch connector then unbolt the connector and its bracket from the transmission and unbolt the mode switch itself from the transmission.
Replacement is the reverse of removal.
Do the following to align:
Loosen the switch hold down bolts. Turn the switch until the slot in the switch lines up with the bushing and insert a drill bit into the slot. Retorque the switch to transmission bolts.
Torque settings: Mode switch bolt 13 N.m., selector lever bolt 23 N.m.

Trying to find out where the reverse light switch is on a 77 chevy pickup with granny lo 4 spd

It's on the side of the transmission. There should be two 2 wire conections on the side. One is your neutral safety switch and the other is the reverse light switch. They either screw out or the have a bolt and fork holding them in.disconnect one of them and try to start it in gear. If it will start then the other one is the reverse light switch. if not then the one you pulled is it.
